In celebration of World Ocean Day, today we hosted a beach cleanup at Sunset Beach in Milnerton. More than 40 volunteers joined us in making a positive impact on the environment and our oceans.

We were honoured to be joined by volunteer staff from the Onomo Hotel Group, the , as well as young boys from Nyanga Men Empowerment. Together, the cleanup was a great success, with over 100 kilograms of waste collected in less than one hour.

Most importantly, the boys had fun, enjoyed themselves, and learned valuable lessons about the ocean, marine life, waste management, and the importance of protecting and maintaining clean environments. Activities such as competitions and interactive learning sessions made the experience both educational and engaging.

These initiatives are about far more than just cleanups. They are refreshing, mentally stimulating, and highly beneficial for the development and wellbeing of young boys and girls. Building a positive relationship with the ocean from a young age encourages healthier, more responsible lifestyles and creates lasting environmental awareness.

For many of the young participants, spending time outdoors and witnessing the beauty of the ocean from the waves to the pebbles washed ashore was a truly special experience that inspired appreciation for nature and the environment.

It was an incredible day, and the beach cleanup was hosted by . Thank you to the team, all the volunteers, coordinators, and partners who helped make the day a success.

On behalf of the ocean, thank you and happy World Ocean Day.

thank you 🙏🏾
