ALPHA CHARITY FOUNDATION
EXECUTIVE OVERVIEW
The Alpha Charity Foundation was founded by Kevin Alexander at the beginning of 2015 as the Alpha Charity Club when he identified the need to improve the circumstances of some of our vulnerable members in our community, especially our children and seniors.
“I discovered that some of the children I came into contact with in Kensington & Factreton were deprived by circumstances, of many opportunities, that other more fortunate children took for granted. Many children have never been to the Cape Town CBD (a mere 12km from their homes), the coast, the Waterfront, Table Mountain… or have never been aboard a train or a bus… I also saw that many of our senior citizens lived in a state of misery, many unhappy that their family members don’t spend enough quality time with them. I spent days thinking about establishing a club of dedicated members to try and realise a child’s dreams and making a child and an elderly person happy again. The idea was to create the awareness of the dire circumstances of our vulnerable members in society and to get assistance from community members and corporates to try and alleviate these circumstances.”
“I chose the name Alpha (the beginning) and the logo of a set of wings to symbolise ‘Spread the Love’, the colour red representative of ‘Love’.”
