In a coordinated joint operation, SAPS, Hoedspruit Farm Watch, Phoenix, and the Blyde River Task Force achieved significant successes over the weekend, targeting illegal mining operations along the banks of the Blyde River.

The operation focused on one of the primary sources of severe sediment pollution flowing into the Blyde Dam - pollution that is steadily reducing the dam’s water-holding capacity and placing downstream communities, agriculture, and vital export crops at increasing risk. With forecasts warning of a potential El NiƱo-driven drought later in 2026, the urgency to protect strategic water resources has never been greater.

Disrupting industrial-scale illegal mining operations of this nature has a meaningful environmental impact and demonstrates what can be achieved through coordinated enforcement and community partnerships. Continued action of this scale will be essential in safeguarding the Blyde River system and the livelihoods that depend on it.

Quite unsurprisingly, Dewet Dt profile has been reported to Facebook, in an attempt to silence our criticism of governmental failure to keep the Kruger's water systems clean. This technique is often used by bureaucrats to silence those who shine a light on wrongdoings.
Please share and follow Wildsafealliance to get any future posts on the Blyde River Task Force as we uncover senior levels of corruption and the poisoning of the Kruger's water supply with international implications.
