Short report from the amazing Dr Annelize Roos - sponsored by Dancers Love Dogs. The Outreach in Herbertsdale on Saturday was one of those heart-worming experiences....
All of the 770 residents that we met were appreciative, friendly, and keen to assist with whatever was required.
Both dogs and cats are in a very good condition and probably 'poor watchdogs'!
No TVT was encountered, and the scale of parasite infestation was minimal.
We were assisted by some local volunteer Pet Champions and the PDSA George paid a visit, vaccinating and deworming all pets at their own cost.
I 'took-to-the-streets' after formal proceedings and calculated that the pet population is about 140-160 dogs and cats in total.
This means that about a third of them have now been sterilised! At least our activities of the morning have prevented the birth of an additional 25 unwanted puppies.
This makes us all so very happy!
