Since inception we've been dedicated to providing essential support, education and a beacon of hope to children in underprivileged communities.

The smiles on their faces, like the ones you see in these pictures, are what fuel our mission. They remind us why we do what we do, day in and day out. But right now, Zifumane Foundation is facing a critical challenge. We are in dire need of financial assistance to keep our vital projects running.

We are truly grateful for the overwhelming support received - both financially and through generous product donations - following the successful Red Carpet Winterhoop Gala Evening held by Kuilsrivier-Suid Gemeente on 21 June. 💫

Thanks to your kindness, we’re now able to equip our ECD centres with the essential tools needed to educate and inspire the little stars of tomorrow. 🌟📚

Kuilsrivier-Suid Gemeente's Winterhoop Gala Evening 2025 was a great success!

We would like to thank everyone who was part of the evening.

The event was largely focused on raising awareness about the challenges faced by young children in our community and how each of us can make a difference in their lives.

Suidkerk, in partnership with the Zifumane Foundation NPC, identified four Early Childhood Development (ECD) projects, which were supported during the evening through a Silent Auction.

⏳ TODAY is International Day of Play

When the campaign began to secure a UN-recognised International Day of Play, we hoped it would shine a light on something so often overlooked - that play is a right, not a privilege!

What wasn’t imagined was that the second-ever International Day of Play would fall at a time when the right to play is being denied to more children than ever.

We are confronting a crisis of scale:
🟠 234 million school-aged children are affected by crises today - if they formed their own country, they would make up the fifth most populous nation on Earth!!!

Of these:
🔸 85 million are out of school
🔸 17% are forcibly displaced
🔸 20% are children with disabilities
🔸 50% are girls
🔸 50% live in sub-Saharan Africa

Add to this:
🧒 160 million children are working instead of playing or learning
🚪 Only 1 in 4 children today play out regularly on their street
🙅 41% say they’ve been told to stop playing by adults

And yet:
🙂 71% of children say play makes them happy
🤝 58% say it helps them make friends and enjoy time with others

📝 Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child recognises “the right of the child to rest and leisure, to engage in play and recreational activities appropriate to the age of the child…”

In a world of conflict, crisis and growing pressure on childhood, protecting time and space for play has never been more urgent.

🗓️ Let us remind the world:

Children learn through play.
They connect through play.
They heal through play.
And they have a right to play.
