HELLO MY GARDENING COMMUNITY ๐๐ฑ
after a number of months of harvesting, carbonising, testing it in actual gardens ๐ we finally have proof that it really works!!
For now we can only deliver locally around Khayelitsha for free.
Our Biochar is made using Water Hyacinth ..

WHAT IS BIOCHAR?
Biochar is a type of charcoal that is produced from organic materials, such as wood, crop residues, or other biomass, through a process called pyrolysis. Pyrolysis involves heating the organic material in the absence of oxygen, which results in a highly porous and stable form of carbon.
PROPERTIES OF BIOCHAR
1. High carbon content: Biochar is composed of a high percentage of carbon, typically ranging from 50% to 90%.
2. Porous structure: Biochar has a highly porous structure, which provides a large surface area for adsorption and other chemical reactions.
3. Stable and durable: Biochar is highly stable and durable, resisting decomposition and degradation over time.
APPLICATION OF BIOCHAR
1. Soil improvement: Biochar can be used to improve soil fertility, structure, and water-holding capacity, making it beneficial for agriculture and gardening.
2. Carbon sequestration: Biochar can be used to sequester carbon in soils, reducing atmospheric CO2 levels and mitigating climate change.
BENEFITS IF BIOCHAR
1. Environmental benefits: Biochar can help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve soil health, and promote sustainable agriculture practices.
2. Economic benefits: Biochar can provide economic benefits by improving crop yields, reducing fertilizer and irrigation costs, and creating new revenue streams for farmers and landowners.
3. Social benefits: Biochar can help to promote sustainable development, improve food security, and support rural livelihoods.
Overall, biochar is a versatile and valuable material that offers a range of benefits for the environment, economy, and society.
