Freedom Challenge Africa

Freedom Challenge Africa There are an estimated 50 million people caught in Human Trafficking. The Freedom Challenge exists to combat this reality of Modern-Day Slavery.

In Africa, it is the vision of the Freedom Challenge to see vulnerable, oppressed and enslaved women and children set on a path to freedom, and become vibrant followers of Jesus. It is through our physical challenges that we identify with the incredibly steep climb so many women and children have to freedom every day. Through mobilising prayer, supporting 20 projects in Africa and partnering with

others to raise awareness and funding we are making an impact. All the support raised is used to make a considerable impact in the following ways.

•PREVENTION: This is the heart of the Freedom Challenge. Projects educate and disciple orphaned and vulnerable children. The Traffick Wise project educates children about human trafficking, preventing them from becoming victims. In Angola, Malawi and Zambia, vulnerable children receive food and love from discipled teachers.

•RESCUE AND REHABILITATION: Freedom Challenge physically rescues girls from the streets of Ghana, West Africa – a hot spot for human trafficking.

•DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAMS: Projects in Madagascar, North-Central Africa and Zambia focus on micro-enterprise, training in business or a trade and discipleship of vulnerable women and widows. Africa is home to many vulnerable women and children impacted by various injustices such as child labour, disability, HIV/AIDS, child soldiers, lack of education, human trafficking, child brides, and so many more. As an example, Sub-Saharan Africa has the highest incidence of child labour in the world with one in four children (ages 5-17) working. What does this mean to you? How can you get involved?

Teacher training in Malawi is often rushed and inadequate when it comes to teaching reading and writing. Teachers leave college without the skills or resources to teach reading and writing effectively, particularly if a child struggles. Frustrated, many teachers resort to physical punishment, thinking it must be the child we is being defiant, and many children simply give up, believing they will never learn to read. When EIA travels to Malawi for teacher training, it really makes a difference to help fill in gaps and help the teachers know they are loved and supported.

Pray with us, that the EIA Team will be able to continue to support and empower many more teachers across Africa to help even more children to learn with joy and become confident and successful students.

The International Day of the Girl Child focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by world leaders in 2015, embody a roadmap for progress that is sustainable and leaves no one behind.

Achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment is integral to each of the 17 goals. Only by ensuring the rights of women and girls across all the goals will we get to justice and inclusion, economies that work for all, and sustaining our shared environment now and for future generations.

Welcome back Pharen! We want to introduce our "new" team member, Pharen Mulusa from Zambia! She used to be part of our FCA team a few years ago but served in another ministry thereafter. So now she is back with Freedom Challenge and we are very excited about that!

It was so good to have Elaine and Brenda from FCUSA visit our projects recently! 🤩 Read about their experience here:
