The Bellville South Community Police Forum wishes all young people a meaningful and inspiring Youth Day 2026.

Today, we honour the courage, sacrifice, and determination of the youth who stood against systemic injustice and fought for the rights and freedoms we enjoy today. Their legacy reminds us that young people have always been a powerful force for positive change.

As we commemorate this important day, we also recognize the challenges facing today's youth, including unemployment, inequality, crime, and limited opportunities. Despite these obstacles, young people remain at the heart of building a stronger, safer, and more prosperous South Africa.

Our message to the youth of Bellville South and beyond is clear: embrace education, participate actively in your communities, and use your voices to shape the future you want to see. Your ideas, energy, and leadership are essential in strengthening our democracy and creating sustainable change.

We encourage young people to unite, support one another, and work together towards common goals. Collective action creates powerful movements, and together we can overcome the challenges that affect our communities.

We also call upon community leaders, organisations, businesses, and government institutions to invest in our youth by creating safe spaces where they can connect, collaborate, develop their skills, and lead with confidence.

The future belongs to the youth. By empowering young people today, we build stronger communities for tomorrow.

Happy Youth Day 2026!

"Unite with others to build a stronger movement. Our collective power makes change unstoppable."

Statement from Bellville South Community Police Forum

It is with great sadness that we share the following sensitive update.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed that a learner has sadly passed away.

Preliminary reports indicate that an incident occurred at Bellville South High School yesterday, as a result of which one learner was hospitalised.
We have since received confirmation that the learner has tragically succumbed to his injuries.

The matter remains under investigation by SAPS and is highly sensitive, particularly as minors are involved. We therefore urge the public to refrain from speculation and to allow the investigative process to take its course.

The Bellville South Community Policing Forum (CPF) strongly condemns violence of this nature in our schools and extends its deepest condolences to the learner's parents, family, friends, classmates, educators, and the wider school community during this difficult time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragic incident. This is undoubtedly an extremely traumatic experience for the families involved and for the broader community.

May his soul rest in peace.
