We’re excited to invite you to something truly meaningful 💛

Humans of the Streets — a new play facilitated by Mike van Graan, developed with Streetscapes — will be showcased this weekend.

📍 Backroom at 6 Spin Street Gallery (opposite Church Square)
🗓 Friday 17 April at 7pm
🗓 Saturday 18 April at 3pm
⏱ 45-minute performance + discussion
🎟 Free entry (donations welcome)

This work-in-progress production tells the real stories of Jonathan Manuel, Staysher Julies, and Cyprian Manqola — now peers at Streetscapes who have journeyed from homelessness toward stability and purpose.

These storytellers are not trained actors. They will perform with scripts in hand as they take the incredibly brave step of sharing deeply personal, vulnerable experiences for the very first time. And that’s exactly what makes this so powerful.

Storytelling is a vital part of reintegration and healing.
When our clients share their stories:
✨ Confidence grows
✨ Voices once unheard are amplified
✨ Audiences connect with the human reality of homelessness

This play is more than a performance — it’s a space for dignity, empowerment, and connection. Every rehearsal and every audience interaction helps build confidence, public speaking skills, and a renewed sense of identity and belonging.

Entrance is free, and donations (suggested R100) will help cover costs, with a portion shared with the performers themselves.

These are the first showcases in the development of new works — and we would love you to be part of the journey. 💛

Our vision was to increase awareness regarding the garden and support Streetscapes work with the homeless population in our area, and this was most successful! 🌈

Being an open air venue and the upcoming weather risks, we will re-visit this project for next spring/summer. 🪻🌻🌷
