Happy Heritage Day!

Today, we celebrate the blend of cultures, stories, and traditions that make South Africa so uniquely beautiful.

At Jungle Theatre, celebrating our diverse heritage isn't just something we do once a year, it’s woven into everything we create. For years, we’ve been bringing South African folklore, indigenous languages, and rich cultural traditions to life on stage. Through music, physical theatre, masks, and puppetry, our shows bring communities together, inspire young minds, and honour the rich heritage of all our people.

From performance spaces to school halls, we believe in the power of storytelling to heal, educate, connect, and celebrate who we are.

Grab your lunch, bring your energy, and get ready to catch the rhythm! We’re heading to the Masque Theatre South Africa for a high-vibe, heart-pumping hour of drumming led by Vincent Meyburgh in support of Jungle Theatre’s fundraising efforts.

Where: Masque Theatre
Drums will be made available at the venue.

Mantis and The Bee, an adventure to a time before the earth was created. Based on ancient /Xam mythology, this visual and musical journey tells the story of how life began.

Our Python and The Qunube Tree cast is hard at work rehearsing for the African Folktales Festival, taking place at the Masque Theatre on 16 and 17 September!

The stage is being set, the puppets are coming to life, and our actors are breathing magic into stories that have been passed down through generations. We can't wait to share these tales with you and your little ones.

This is more than just a festival, it's a celebration of our rich African heritage, told through music, dance, and storytelling that will captivate audiences of all ages.

Two years back when, Jungle Theatre Company in partnership with Captain Fanplastic launched Captain Kwanda's Fanplastic Adventures, and what a voyage it's been! This vibrant, interactive theatre production has been making waves across Cape Town, teaching young learners about ocean pollution and climate change through the magic of storytelling.

Celebrating World Water Week 2026: Water for People and Progress

This week marks World Water Week (23-27 August), and this year's theme reminds us that water isn't just about survival, it's about community, connection, and a just future for all.

At Jungle Theatre Company, we've always believed that storytelling can inspire real change. One of our shows, River of Life, brings this message to life through the journey of Princess Mamlambo, who must save her village's river from pollution and disconnection. It's an African folktale about a community that takes its precious water for granted, until it's almost too late.
