We’ve been doing this.

This moment goes back to 2018 — when different communities came together, showed up, and created something that mattered.

That’s always been the heart of Pic-4-Pads.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

This has always been part of the work — creating space for conversations that are often avoided, and reminding people that they’re not alone.

It’s not about visibility for the sake of it.
It’s about acknowledging what so many carry quietly.

There’s a different kind of energy when something is built with purpose.

Pic-4-Pads isn’t just about showing up — it’s about what we create together when we do.

We’re opening space for vendors who want to be part of something that goes beyond sales.
Something that connects. That gives back. That actually means something.

If that’s you, you already know.

May 2018.

It started small — one table, a few volunteers, and a community that refused to stay silent.
And then people came.

Not just for photos — but with open hearts.
Donations came in, conversations were shared, and something shifted.

What started as a moment became a movement.

Because when a community comes together, we don’t just give…
we restore dignity, we create connection, and we bring back that feeling of our village 🤍

We’re currently looking for photographers for P4P this May.

This is not a typical shoot.
It’s fast-paced, real, and rooted in community.

People arrive with donations.
In return, they receive professional portraits.
What’s collected becomes dignity packs for girls who need them most.

If you’re a photographer — or know one — and want to be part of it, reach out.

Let’s build this properly.

May 2018.

What started with one table and a small group of people quickly became something bigger.

Photographers showed up and gave their time, their talent, and their passion — not for recognition, but for purpose.

Each photo taken that day was more than just an image… it was dignity, it was confidence, it was someone being seen.

This is what happens when people come together with intention 🤍

May 2018.

What started as a simple photography goal — shooting 100 people in one day with a dear friend — turned into something so much more.

It started with just one table, a group of volunteers, and a community fighting back.

Behind every photo was someone who chose to show up — giving their time, their energy, and their hearts to make the day possible.

From setting up, organizing, and simply being present… this is where Pic-4-Pads was born.

A reminder that it’s never just one person — it’s always the village 🤍

We’re building something meaningful 🤍

Pic-4-Pads 2026 is more than an initiative — it’s a commitment to restoring dignity, creating safe spaces, and ensuring young girls have access to both menstrual products and education.

But we can’t do it alone.

We’re looking for volunteers who want to be part of something that truly impacts lives across communities in Cape Town.

If this speaks to you, we’d love to have you join us.
And if you’re already part of our community, your engagement helps us reach the girls who need this most.

Sometimes support isn’t money.
Sometimes it’s just being seen.

And right now, visibility matters.

Volunteers Needed | Pic-4-Pads 2026

Closing The Book Foundation is preparing for the return of Pic-4-Pads, and we’re looking for a small group of people who want to be part of something meaningful.

Pic-4-Pads focuses on menstrual dignity and education for young girls, helping ensure that something as natural as a menstrual cycle never becomes a barrier to confidence, dignity, or education.

As we prepare for the May 2026 event, we’re looking for volunteers who can assist with:

• Event planning and coordination
• Community outreach
• Product collection drives
• Packing and distribution
• Photography and media support

If you believe in restoring dignity, breaking stigma, and supporting young girls, we would love to have you involved.

Why Pic-4-Pads Exists

Menstrual health is still a barrier to education for millions of girls around the world.

According to UNESCO, 1 in 10 girls in Sub-Saharan Africa miss school during their menstrual cycle due to lack of sanitary products, proper facilities, or education.

Many young girls also grow up without basic knowledge about their bodies, because menstrual health is still treated as something shameful or hidden.

This silence creates:

• missed school days
• embarrassment and stigma
• lack of confidence
• long-term impact on education

Pic-4-Pads exists to change that.

Through the initiative, Closing The Book Foundation provides:

• sanitary products
• menstrual health education
• safe spaces for open conversation
• community awareness

Because something as natural as a menstrual cycle should never stand in the way of a girl’s dignity or education.
