Rags2Riches Contribute your rags and bring riches to both the unemployed women as well as aspiring learners of SHAWCO.

Since 2007 SHAWCO has been collecting second hand clothes (initially from UCT Student Residences) and selling them in developing communities at low prices. This initiative came about in order to generate a surplus income to contribute towards SHAWCO's education projects. Rags2Riches is now part of SHAWCO's Social Enterprise sector which was established in 2008. On the 3rd of May 2011 SHAWCO opened

its first Rags2Riches store in Mowbray and on the 25th May 2013, its second store was opened at the SHAWCO Kensington Centre. Rags2Riches has now also expanded to support socio-economic development, with the support of the SHAWCO Siyaya initiative, which sees the training of unemployed people, in various developing communities, start their own second hand clothing shops in their own communities.
