Looking back on Friday, 20 March 2026 - we opened in true AIM style.

An intimate and powerful evening of film, gathering, and reflection. We shared Stories in Die Wind by Na Aap Productions, A Place Called Paradise by Rae Human and Rudi Lippert, and Perspective: Triptych by Shifting Point Studio and Darion Adams.

Each work drew us into our connection with nature, our deep relationships with one another and the land, and the quiet power of stories that reflect the people who witness them.

This evening marked the opening of the Purple Mountain Arts Residency Human & Environmental Rights Festival 2026.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and shared in this moment.

More to come as the journey continues.

Last night’s movie night was something truly special. 🤍
We partnered with the Encounters Documentary Film Festival Junior Movie Club, and it was such an honour to screen Never Come Fetch Me by Jessie Ayles.

This collaboration marks a big and meaningful step for The AIM Society — being able to share work of this nature and stature with our community. The film captured the hearts and minds of the kids who watched it, reflecting their experiences so beautifully that you could feel it land in the room.

We’re beyond grateful to partner with the Encounters Documentary Film Festival Junior Movie Club in such a powerful way. It made our movie night extra special, and we couldn’t be prouder. 🌟🎥

Thank you Lameze’s Allie for making this collaboration possible.

We are beyond excited to welcome a cohort of seven incredible young people joining the Bertha House Storyvist – Film and Narrative Justice programme, alongside young people from Khayelitsha, Philippi, Heideveld and Parkwood

This moment is especially meaningful given our long-standing relationship with Bertha House. Seeing Manenberg youth represented in this programme is a powerful opportunity for growth, learning, and creative development.

It is also a moment to connect across communities — taking charge of how our stories are told and presented to the world is powerful. We look forward to sharing space, stories, and journeys with you. 🌱🎥🤍

On Saturday, 7 February 2026, we launched our year-long dance program, Dance at AIM, at the Manenberg People’s Centre. We believe deeply in dance as a powerful catalyst for transformation in the hearts and minds of young people. This belief is the reason we began this journey to make a meaningful impact in their lives. Through the power of dance, movement, and storytelling, we aim to ignite imagination and help young people see beyond the limitations of their socio-economic environment. We are excited to begin this new chapter.

“I have come to wrench you away,
away from the poking eyes of the man-made monster
who lives in the dark with his clutches of imperialism
who dissects your body bit by bit,
who likens your soul to that of Satan and declares himself the ultimate God!”

Our founder, Darion Adams, was invited by the Zero Dropouts Campaign () titled Hanging by a Thread, a call that names a painful and urgent truth: 4 out of every 10 school learners are unlikely to complete their schooling.

Hanging by a thread is not only a statistic, it is a lived, embodied reality. It speaks to young people navigating education systems while carrying grief, instability, violence, poverty, and inherited trauma. Learners are asked to perform resilience without being held.

This moment calls for more than policy reform. It demands care as infrastructure. Psychosocial support must be woven into education in ways that recognise the learner as a whole being, shaped by family, community, history, and place. Without this, education continues to reproduce harm rather than interrupt it.

We thank the Zero Dropouts Campaign for inviting us into this critical space of reflection and action, and for insisting that no learner should be left hanging.
