IMPORTANT NOTE FROM HARFIELD VILLAGE ASSOCiATION (HVA)

Today we want to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank you to Daniela Leigh, who has stepped down as Chair of the Harfield Village Association after serving as interim Chair since September 2025.

Daniela has been a real pillar of Harfield Village over the years. Her time, energy and care have helped guide the HVA through many moments, always with the wellbeing of residents and the spirit of our neighbourhood at heart. We are incredibly grateful for the role she has played in helping build the strong sense of community that makes Harfield Village so special – from the many HVA raffles she has organised to helping bring a number of Harfield Carnivals to life, and so many other contributions too numerous to mention.

After so many years of dedication, Daniela is stepping away from the Chair role to take some well-deserved time for herself — something we can all agree she has more than earned. We’re grateful that she will still remain involved with the HVA from a planning perspective, continuing to share her experience and insight with the committee.

The HVA remains committed to being a dedicated and engaged civic association, working to support residents, strengthen community ties in Harfield Village, and extend a friendly hand to our neighbouring areas.

Following Daniela’s departure, Eulogi Rheeder has stepped into the role of Chair, with Shulka Karshan serving as Vice-Chair.

In the coming weeks we’ll be sharing some introductions (and reintroductions) to the HVA committee. For now, we simply want to pause and say thank you, Daniela. Your contribution to this community will not be forgotten. 💛

The Harfield Village Association wishes everyone a Happy Heritage Day!
Today, as we celebrate Heritage Day, we reflect on the journey of our nation and the people who brought about change in South Africa. We also look back on the history of our own village—on those who endured hardship, and on everyone who contributed to making Harfield Village the special place we call home.
We love our village. We care for our village. Most importantly, we are a community that stands together to support one another. Change begins with us, and together we can continue to build a safe, peaceful, and united community—one that embraces and protects all, regardless of colour or creed.
We are one. We are Harfield Village. And we are proud to call it the best village in Cape Town.
Today, we honour our ancestors, celebrate our heritage, and give thanks to every resident who makes a difference each day.

LATEST UPDATE RE TRAFFIC CHAOS from Jenni HVCID
Latest update regarding Traffic complaint/MyCiti Construction -
We take note of the concerns mentioned below.
We are in consultation with the contractor to have additional Traffic Officers placed strategically along the route and at most of the mentioned intersections.
This will however be based on overtime as we do not have the quantity of on duty staff needed to address these concerns. I have no doubt that it is frustrating, and all the concerns raised to be true.
We hope to receive approval for the overtime that will allow us to deploy nine Traffic Officers for peak time, 05:00 – 10:00 and 14:30 – 19:30. I am confident that if we receive approval that it will ease the frustration of the residence and other road users but not necessarily lessen the travelling time dramatically. The main functions of the staff will be to ensure compliance, enforce when called upon and perform point duty where and when reasonable to do so.
The request is for additional Traffic Officers, Mondays to Fridays.
We are therefore hopeful to get approval to deploy soonest.
