TNCW will be hosting a special security meeting to present the proposed Street & Public Space Response Team (SRT) initiative to the community. This meeting will explain why the committee believes this additional safety layer should be considered for Tokai, how it could operate, what it may cost, and how it could potentially be funded. This meeting is intended as an information and consultation session, and we encourage residents with questions, concerns, or support for the concept to attend so that the discussion reflects a balanced range of views. Comment on the Draft Road Safety Strategy

In 2023, thousands of Cape Town residents took the time to share their real, lived experiences of using our roads - from unsafe pedestrian crossings and damaged sidewalks, to speeding, reckless driving and poor road conditions.

It directly informed the City’s Draft Road Safety Strategy - a framework shaped by the voices of people who walk, drive, cycle and commute across Cape Town every day.

Now, the draft strategy is open for public comment.

If road safety affects your daily life, whether you’re a parent, commuter, business owner or road user, this is the opportunity to ensure the final strategy reflects what safety really needs to look like on our streets.

Stronger strategies start with informed, engaged communities.

🗓️ Public participation is open from 8 May to 8 June 2026 via Have Your Say, the Collaboration Platform or at libraries and Subcouncil offices.
