How Long Must Zimbabweans 🇿🇼 Continue to Endure This ? No free and fair elections. No freedom to protest. No freedom of speech. No equal opportunities. No respect for human rights. Crumbling hospitals. A struggling education system. Broken roads. Rising poverty.

A nation blessed with so much should never leave its people with so little. Generations have grown up knowing hardship instead of hope, fear instead of freedom, and survival instead of opportunity.

Zimbabwe deserves better. Our people deserve to live without fear, to speak without intimidation, to dream without limits, and to build a future with dignity, justice, and peace. The question remains: How much longer must they wait?

Mnangagwa daughter-in-law arrested over $204 drugs

Kelsea Tadiwa Tafirenyika (22), the second wife of Collins Mnangagwa, son of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has been arrested on charges of unlawfully dealing in dangerous drugs after police allegedly recovered pethidine, morphine and dagga worth US$204 during a raid at her Greystone Park home in Harare.

She appeared before a Harare magistrate on Wednesday and was remanded in custody to Thursday for a bail hearing after prosecutors opposed bail, saying investigations into an alleged drug supply network are ongoing.

Prosecutors say CID Drugs and Narcotics detectives recovered 154 ampoules of pethidine, 50 ampoules of morphine sulphate and five rolls of dagga during the search.

The loss of life on 1 August 2018 was a painful moment in Zimbabwe’s history, and every life lost deserves respect and remembrance. However, a balanced discussion must also acknowledge the broader context in which the events occurred. Hence:

1. In a constitutional democracy, citizens have rights, but those rights come with responsibilities. Demonstrations that result in violence, destruction of property, intimidation, or threats to public safety cannot be justified as a legitimate expression of democratic rights. The State has a duty to protect citizens, safeguard property, and maintain public order.

2. The deployment of security services must therefore be viewed within their constitutional mandate to assist in maintaining law and order when public security is threatened. Their role is to restore peace and protect the wider population, although the use of force must always remain lawful, necessary, and proportionate.

3. The Motlanthe Commission was established to examine the events and provide recommendations. The way forward is not to glorify confrontation, but to strengthen institutions, promote responsible citizenship, and ensure that Zimbabwe continues on a path of peace, reconciliation, and national development.
