๐ŸŽ—๏ธ Oraycio is Only 8 โ€” And His Fight Has Just Begun

Just a few weeks ago, 8-year-old Oraycio Adriaan Peters was living the life every child should be living.

Then his mother noticed something was wrong.

Red spots and unexplained bruises began appearing on his little body. A few days later, his temperature climbed to 39ยฐC.

On 5 July, his mother took him to the local day hospital. Doctors were concerned enough to send photographs of his symptoms to Karl Bremer Hospital, and the response was immediate โ€” Oraycio needed to be seen urgently.

What followed changed this family's life forever.

Blood tests showed that something was seriously wrong with his cells. Doctors told his mother they suspected leukaemia, but further testing at Tygerberg Hospital was needed.

Then, on 9 July, the biopsy results came back.

Oraycio had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) โ€” and it was aggressive.

For his mother and father, the words were devastating.๐Ÿ’”

They cried. They struggled to understand how their 8-year-old little boy could suddenly be fighting cancer.

But there was very little time to process the diagnosis. Oraycio was already extremely pale, and doctors needed to begin treatment quickly.

Today, he is undergoing weekly chemotherapy, intrathecal treatment and radiation as his little body fights this disease.

And while Oraycio fights cancer, his family is fighting alongside him.

His father is currently the family's only breadwinner. Every day, he has to somehow make sure there is money for transport to hospital, food at home and the nutritional needs of a child undergoing cancer treatment.

Some days, the money simply isn't there.

When something runs out, they borrow just to make it through.

At home, Oraycio's 13-year-old and 2-year-old siblings are also trying to understand why their brother is sick, why their mother is so often at the hospital, and why life suddenly looks so different.๐Ÿ˜ฅ

Their mother says the emotions are difficult to put into words.

Yet every day, they get up and continue.

They continue because Oraycio needs them.

They continue because despite the fear, the exhaustion and the financial pressure, this family is holding onto hope.

ยซโ€œAs a family, every day is something new, but we hold onto that little hope we have. We are strong for him. By the grace of God, we do everything we can for him.โ€ยป

Oraycio is only 8 years old.

He should be worrying about school, playing with his friends and enjoying his childhood โ€” not chemotherapy, radiation, needles and hospital rooms.

His family cannot take the cancer away.

But with the support of a caring community, perhaps we can help make the journey a little less heavy.

Support his journey:

This is Oraycio's fight now. But his family should not have to fight it alone. ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ๐Ÿ’›

"After that 730 nights, and more of hospital visits than I can count... SHE DID IT!!!
Phitlhello has officially finished her cancer treatment.
She is now a cancer survivor.

We walked through fear, pain, waiting rooms, and prayers. We held on through the hard days and held onto hope on the impossible ones. Today we get to breathe different. Today we get to celebrate life.๐Ÿ’›

Thank you to every doctor, nurse, and person who prayed, sent messages, and stood with us. We couldnโ€™t have done this without you.

This isnโ€™t the end of the story. Itโ€™s the beginning of healing, of birthdays, of ordinary days that now feel like miracles.

๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ FLY HIGH, LITTLE CLICHร‰ โ€” YOUR FIGHT IS OVER

Five-year-old Clichรฉ Ockhuis fought a battle no child should ever have to face.

After being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), Clichรฉ endured months of chemotherapy, hospital stays, needles, procedures and uncertainty โ€” all while still being the happy, lively little girl her family knew and loved.

Her mother, 23-year-old Hazel Ockhuis, never stopped fighting alongside her. In the hope of saving her little girl's life, Hazel donated her own stem cells to Clichรฉ.

For a while, there was hope that the treatment had worked.

But heartbreakingly, the cancer returned and later spread to Clichรฉ's lungs.

Through it all, her mommy remained right where she had always been โ€” by her little girl's side.

At approximately 19:55 on Tuesday evening, Clichรฉ took her final breath at Tygerberg Hospital.

But Clichรฉ was so much more than cancer.

She was a happy little girl who loved to dance, loved TikTok and dreamed of one day becoming a doctor. She had dreams. She had a future she imagined. She had people who loved her beyond words.๐ŸŒธ

Tonight, another family is learning how to live with an empty space that can never truly be filled.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Rest peacefully, beautiful Clichรฉ.

No more chemotherapy.
No more hospital rooms.
No more pain.

Just rest, little fighter. ๐Ÿ’”๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

Our deepest love and condolences go out to Hazel and the entire Ockhuis family during this unimaginable loss.

Clichรฉ was only five years old โ€” but her little life mattered, her story matters, and she will not be forgotten. ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ๐Ÿ’›

Help Give Ighsaan (age 6) with a Safe Place to Recover in.

Ighsaan is still bravely battling Stage 4 cancer.๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

He has already undergone major surgery and continues with treatment, but when he leaves the hospital, he returns to a home that is badly affected by damp and water leaks.

For a child whose body is already fighting so much, home should be a place of comfort, safety and rest โ€” not another challenge to overcome.

His mother is currently unemployed and doing everything she can to care for him. We are raising funds to help improve their living conditions or, if necessary, secure safer accommodation.๐Ÿ’›

*Funds will assist with repairing the damp and leaking areas, creating a dry and comfortable sleeping space, essential household needs, food, hygiene supplies and transport to treatment.

We cannot fight Ighsaan's cancer for him, but we can change the environment he has to fight it from.

Every donation brings us closer to giving this brave little fighter a safe, dry and dignified place to rest and recover while he continues his Stage 4 cancer journey.

Please donate or share Ighsaan's story. ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ๐Ÿ’›

While Ighsaan fights for his health, let us fight for the home he deserves.

๐Ÿ’” PLEASE KEEP A YOUNG FIGHTER IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS TONIGHT๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ๐Ÿ’›

Tonight, we ask you to hold a very special 13-year-old fighter close in your thoughts and prayers.

He has been battling leukaemia for more than four years and is currently hospitalised with suspected pneumonia affecting both lungs.

Tonight, we received the heartbreaking news that doctors are hoping and praying that he makes it through the night. ๐Ÿ’”

For now, we are keeping his identity private and simply asking our community to surround this young fighter and his family with love, strength, hope and prayer.

๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ Keep fighting, little warrior. We are all holding onto hope with you tonight. ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ๐Ÿ’›

๐ŸŽ—๏ธ๐Ÿ’› PLEASE KEEP TASHREEQ IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ๐Ÿ’›๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

We visited our brave Tashreeq tonight ahead of an incredibly important few weeks in his journey.

*This coming Tuesday, he begins 20 consecutive days of radiation treatment in the hope of shrinking the aggressive tumour growing behind his eye.

The hope is that the radiation will shrink the tumour enough for doctors to successfully and safely remove the affected eye and tumour.

As Tashreeq prepares for this difficult road ahead, we ask everyone โ€” regardless of faith or belief โ€” to surround him with love, hope, positive thoughts and strength. โค๏ธ

May his treatment be successful. May the tumour respond and shrink. May his pain and headaches ease, and may he find the strength to face each of these 20 days.

To everyone who has been following his journey, supporting his family and holding him close in your hearts โ€” thank you.

20 days of treatment. 20 days of hope. One incredibly brave young fighter. ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŽ“ HELP US MAKE TAUQEERโ€™S MATRIC BALL A REALITY ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ’™

Sometimes cancer doesnโ€™t only affect the person fighting it. It changes the lives of an entire family.

Today, we are asking our community to help us give 17-year-old Tauqeer Roberts one very special night to remember. โค๏ธ

Tauqeer is a Matric learner at Batavia School of Skills, and his Matric Ball takes place on 15 October. He also celebrates his 18th birthday on 20 August.

For most families, preparing for a Matric Ball is filled with excitement โ€” choosing an outfit, arranging transport, taking photographs and watching your child walk out of the house looking their absolute best.

For Tauqeerโ€™s mom, Chantel, there is the same excitement and pride โ€” but sadly, she is simply not financially able to make it happen.

Chantel is 45 years old and battling Stage 4 cancer.

She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022. After treatment, surgery and remission, she tried to return to normal life. But after months of severe back pain and repeated visits to hospital, her world changed completely.

In early 2025, she lost the ability to walk.

Doctors discovered that the cancer had spread to her spine. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and became dependent on a wheelchair and on others for many of the things she had previously been able to do for herself.

Sadly, in 2026, she received further devastating news โ€” the cancer had spread to her right shoulder and pelvis.๐Ÿ’”

Through all of this, Tauqeer has had to grow up incredibly quickly.

He has accompanied his mom to hospital appointments, helped with her wheelchair and supported her through some of the most difficult moments of her illness โ€” all while trying to continue with school and complete his Matric year.

This family is surviving from one day to the next. There are days when simply finding taxi fare for Tauqeer to get to school, bread for the household, electricity or money for his momโ€™s essential care needs is a struggle.

A Matric Ball is therefore something Chantel desperately wishes she could give her son, but right now, she simply cannot.

๐Ÿ’” She still has so much she wants to do for her son โ€” her body and circumstances just won't allow her to.

So we would like to help her.

We are appealing to our incredible community and businesses to help us make Tauqeerโ€™s Matric Ball on 15 October a reality. ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿ’› We would be incredibly grateful for assistance with things such as:

๐Ÿ‘” A suit / Matric Ball outfit
๐Ÿ‘ž Shoes
๐Ÿ’ˆ Haircut & grooming
๐Ÿš˜ Special transport for the evening
๐Ÿ“ธ Photography
๐Ÿ’ Corsage / finishing touches
๐ŸŽ Or any other contribution that could help make his night unforgettable.

More than anything, we want Chantel to have that moment.

The moment she gets to look at her son, dressed for his Matric Ball, and simply be Mom. โค๏ธ

Not a cancer patient.
Not someone worrying about medication, nappies, taxi fare or the next hospital appointment.

Just a proud mother watching her son reach one of the biggest milestones of his young life.

Cancer has already taken so much from this family.

Letโ€™s not allow it to take this moment too. ๐Ÿ’™

If you or your business can assist in making Tauqeerโ€™s Matric Ball dream a reality, please reach out to us.

Every contribution, no matter how small, can help us give this young man โ€” and his mom โ€” a memory they can hold onto forever.

๐ŸŽ—๏ธ Stand Up For Hope.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ REST IN PEACE, LITTLE LWANDLE ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ’”

It is with shattered hearts that we share that little Lwandle passed away a short while ago. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’”

Lwandle was diagnosed in November 2024, and from such a young age, he endured a battle no child should ever have to face. Today, that battle has sadly come to an end. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

There are simply no words for parents having to say goodbye to their child. Instead of taking their little boy home, Lwandleโ€™s parents are now faced with the unimaginable task of laying their little Angel to rest. ๐Ÿ’”

His family urgently needs assistance with the costs of his burial and final farewell. We are appealing to our community to please help us give Lwandle the dignified and beautiful send-off he deserves and to ease just one burden from his grieving parents during this devastating time.

๐Ÿ™ Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference.

https://www.backabuddy.co.za/campaign/lwandle-burial-assistance

Please also keep Lwandleโ€™s mommy, daddy and loved ones in your prayers as they face the days ahead.

Fly high, precious Lwandle. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿค
Your little body fought so hard.
May you now rest peacefully, free from pain.

๐ŸŽ—๏ธ No parent should have to bury their child โ€” and no family should have to face that journey alone.๐Ÿ’”

๐Ÿ™๐ŸŽ—๏ธ PRAYER REQUEST FOR LITTLE ISABELLA ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ๐Ÿ™

Tonight, weโ€™re asking our community to please keep 2-year-old Isabella, affectionately known as Izzy, in your prayers. โค๏ธ

This beautiful little girl is fighting an aggressive form of brain cancer โ€” medulloblastoma.

Izzy has already endured multiple brain surgeries after doctors discovered a tumour and fluid on her brain. Her family is now anxiously waiting to learn whether the cancer has spread before she begins chemotherapy.

Right now, her family is carrying the fear no family should ever have to face โ€” the fear of losing her. ๐Ÿ’”

So tonight, we ask you to please pray for Izzy. ๐Ÿ™

๐Ÿ™ Pray that the cancer has not spread.
๐Ÿ™ Pray that her treatment is successful.
๐Ÿ™ Pray for strength for her little body and her family.
๐Ÿ™ Pray that this precious little girl gets the chance to grow up, play, laugh and make a lifetime of beautiful memories.

Izzy is only 2 years old. Her fight is only beginning, and tonight she needs an army of prayers standing behind her. ๐ŸŽ—๏ธโค๏ธ

Please keep little Izzy and her family close in your thoughts and prayers.
