π HE WAS ONLY 15 WHEN CANCER FIRST KNOCKED AT HIS DOORβ¦ NOW CHAD IS FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE AGAIN ποΈ
There are some battles no young person should ever have to faceβ¦ yet Chad continues to fight one of the cruelest battles imaginable with a courage that leaves everyone around him in awe. π
At just 15 years old, Chad was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that attacks the bones and surrounding tissue. While most teenagers were focused on school, friendships, and dreams for the future, Chad was learning how to endure chemotherapy, hospital admissions, pain, and uncertainty.
But Chad fought.
Through endless treatments, difficult days, and moments no child should ever have to endure, he pushed forward with incredible strength. And after such a painful journey, his family finally received the news they had prayed forβ¦ Chad was cancer-free. π
For two precious years, life slowly began to feel normal again. His family celebrated the little things many of us take for granted β laughter around the table, birthdays together, watching Chad smile again, and seeing him dream about the future.
Despite the damage left behind from treatment, Chad refused to give up on life. During the December 2024 school holidays, he even took on a casual job. Standing for hours with braces on his feet and sometimes relying on crutches for support, he still showed up and gave it his all. That is the kind of fighter Chad is. πͺ
But in April 2025, their world shattered all over again.
After complaining of severe pain in his left leg, Chad was initially told it was a muscle sprain. Pain medication was prescribed, and scans showed nothing alarming. But just two days later, the pain became unbearable to the point where he could no longer walk.
Doctors arranged further scans, including an MRI and CT scan.
That is when they discovered the devastating truthβ¦
The cancer had returned. π
This time, the tumour was growing on Chadβs spine.
Everything moved rapidly after that. Surgeons, oncologists, biopsies, and emergency procedures followed. On the 22nd of April 2025, Chad underwent a massive 8-hour spinal surgery to remove the tumour. Part of his spine had to be removed and replaced with steel rods just to stabilize his body.
Imagine being so young and hearing that your spine must be rebuilt because cancer has returned.
Yet even after this life-changing surgery, Chad kept fighting.
After months of physiotherapy, he slowly learned to walk again using braces. But the battle was far from over. In July 2025 he underwent radiation treatment, followed by chemotherapy through October, November, and December.
Then came another heartbreaking setback.
In December 2025, Chad suddenly began coughing up blood. His family rushed him back to hospital, praying it was not what they feared.
On the 10th of January 2026, doctors confirmed the devastating newsβ¦ the cancer had spread to his left lung. π
More radiation followed. More hospital admissions. More infections. More suffering.
At one point Chad became so ill that he spent an entire month in ICU fighting for his life before finally recovering enough to continue treatment again.
And through it all⦠he still smiles.
He still speaks about his dreams. He still talks about bikes, anime, good food, and one day building a future for himself in hospitality. He still finds ways to laugh with his family despite everything his body has endured.
That is what makes this story so heartbreaking⦠and so inspiring at the same time.
Behind every treatment is a family carrying unimaginable emotional, physical, and financial strain. Countless trips to hospital. Sleepless nights beside hospital beds. Fear of what tomorrow may bring. Watching someone you love suffer while feeling completely helpless.
Today, we ask our community to stand beside Chad and his family during one of the hardest chapters of their lives. ππ
