💖 Baby Update: A Leap of Faith 💖

Today, we took a leap of faith.

Knowing that Mommy is finally able to visit her precious baby girl at Groote Schuur Hospital tomorrow, we went ahead and purchased some of the essential items baby urgently needs.

We didn't want this tiny warrior to go without while we waited for donations to come in.

Thanks to the support received so far, and by stretching every rand as far as possible, we were able to buy necessities for baby. Photos of the items and receipts are attached for full transparency.

However, this means that our available funds have now been completely depleted.

Tomorrow, Mommy will be able to spend precious time with her little girl, thanks to the R300 donation received that we will use for a Mycity weekly card.

But the journey is far from over.

At just 1.1kg, this beautiful baby still has a long road ahead, and her parents continue to face the daily challenges that come with having a premature baby in the NICU.

💖👶 A Tiny Miracle Needs a Big Community 👶💖

Last Friday, a beautiful little baby girl made a very unexpected entrance into the world right here in Melkbosstrand.

Born more than two months early, this precious little warrior weighed just 1.1kg at birth – only a little more than a large tub of margarine.

To put that into perspective, she is so tiny that even newborn clothing is far too big for her.

While her parents were expecting several more weeks to prepare for her arrival, life had other plans. Today, this brave little girl is receiving specialist care in the Neonatal ICU at Groote Schuur Hospital, where she continues to fight and grow stronger each day.

We are celebrating the arrival of this beautiful new life, but we are also asking our community to help carry this family through one of the most challenging times of their lives.

💔 One of the hardest realities is that Mommy cannot be with her baby every day.

Because there is currently no bed available for Mom to stay at the hospital, she can only visit when she is able to find money for bus and taxi fare. Imagine bringing your baby into the world and then not being able to hold her whenever you want because you simply cannot afford the trip.

At just 1.1kg, she is small enough to fit into her daddy's hands, but her fight for life is bigger than anyone could imagine.

• Alcohol-free or sensitive skin wet wipes
• Head-to-toe baby wash
• Baby lotion or Aqua Cream for sensitive skin

This family did not expect their daughter to arrive so soon. They did not have the opportunity to fully prepare, emotionally or financially, for the sudden challenges that come with a premature birth.

📢 Help Us Reunite a Patient with Her Family

DP Marais Hospital is reaching out to the community for assistance. Ms. Zukiswa Ncula has been admitted to our hospital for over a year and will soon be ready for discharge. Unfortunately, we have not been able to locate any of her family members or relatives. The patient is unable to provide details that could help us trace her loved ones.

We kindly ask anyone who may have information about her or her family to please come forward.

MEN'S MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH

A man can be surrounded by people and still feel completely alone.

He can be the provider, the protector, the problem-solver, the one everyone turns to when things fall apart... while silently carrying burdens nobody ever asks about.

This Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, I want to challenge something.

When was the last time you genuinely asked a man how he was doing — and waited long enough to hear the real answer?

Too many men suffer in silence because they've been taught that strength means staying quiet. That vulnerability is weakness. That asking for help is failure.

It isn't.

Real strength is speaking up.
Real courage is reaching out.
Real masculinity is knowing that you don't have to carry every battle alone.

As we begin the countdown to International Men's Day on 19 November, let's start having the conversations that matter. Let's create spaces where men can be honest without judgement, where they can be heard without criticism, and where they know that their lives, their struggles, and their mental health matter.

To every man reading this:

You don't have to be okay all the time.
You don't have to carry it all on your own.
And you are never weaker for asking for help.

Because behind every strong man is a human being who deserves support too.

💙✨ HAPPY YOUTH DAY, MELKBOSSTRAND! ✨💙

What an absolutely incredible day!

Today, our little town came alive as we celebrated Youth Day in the most beautiful way possible. We had the privilege of crowning not one, but TWO Miss Melkbosstrand winners, one Mr Melkbosstrand, and one Ms Melkbosstrand — and with an amazing 51 entries, our hearts are overflowing with pride and gratitude.

The laughter, excitement, confidence, courage, and pure joy displayed by every single participant reminded us exactly why Youth Day is so important. Today was about celebrating our young people, their dreams, their talents, their potential, and the bright future they represent.

Our Little Olives were nothing short of amazing. Watching these young stars shine on stage, support one another, and embrace every moment filled us with so much love, hope, and gratitude. The future is truly in good hands.

This wonderful Youth Day initiative would not have been possible without the incredible collaboration and support of Sgt Botha and Melkbosstrand SAPS, who helped make this day so special for our youth.

Today we observed World Elderly Abuse Awareness Day by spending time with some of the incredible seniors in our community and sharing a small treat pack as a token of our appreciation and care.

Our elderly citizens are the heart of our communities, carrying a lifetime of wisdom, experience, and stories. Today was not only about raising awareness of elder abuse, but also about showing kindness, respect, and reminding our seniors that they are valued and loved.

A special thank you to Sgt Botha of Melkbosstrand SAPS, Melkbosstrand CPF and the wonderful communities of Ouskip and Seapark frail care for welcoming us and allowing us the opportunity to spend this meaningful time with your residents.

Together, let us continue to stand against elder abuse and work towards communities where every senior is treated with the dignity, respect, and care they deserve.
