To start off 2026 our group wishes to focus on community outreach/ service, something we haven't done much of in 2025.

Our Cub families were requested to add some school essentials for a child in need to their stationery shopping basket as they prepared for their new academic school year.
These items were kindly brought to our first Pack meeting for the year and were donated to HUNNA Foundation NPC for their Back to school Stationery Drive 2026. The stationery goodie bags consisted of blunt nose scissors, glue sticks,
super jumbo wax crayons, beginner tri-grip pencils and sharpener, eraser, giant colouring book, lunch box and water bottle, pair of boys or girls school socks and an Art apron.

18 October 2025
Our pack participated in theTrailblazer Challenge that 1st Durbanville Cub Pack ran for our District's packs in preparation for Regional competition Edward Shield.
In teams of 4-6 Cubs with a Scouter for supervision purposes only, they enjoyed a short walk around Door de Kraal dam (close to Kenridge) with 8 bases along the way.

The cubs had to work as a team, covering bases from scouting knowledge, mapping, first aid, secret codes, identification amongst other.

Competition is very tight with Cubs coming in at 1st place in the Trailblazer Challenge out of a 5 teams (of which 4 teams were from 1st Durbanville) ๐Ÿ’œโšœ๏ธ๐Ÿพwhoop whoop. ๐ŸŽ‰

6 September 2025:
Raksha our SGL, joined fellow Scouters at the 2025 Gilwell Reunion. This special annual gathering is for Scouters whoโ€™ve completed their Wood Badge training.

Scouters teamed up at starting points at Gilwood in the northern suburbs and HQ in the southern suburbs heading to various points through the streets of Cape Town CBD for a fun, history-themed adventure car rally.๐Ÿš™๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ

Raksha teamed up with Pack Scouters of Letitia and Gerrie. The rally ended at Appleton, with the Wood Badge ceremony where Raksha and other new recipients were invested and honoured as members of 1st Gilwell Scouts followed by a lovely spit braai lunch. To mark the occasion members left their inked handprints on a commemorative sheet to mark the occasion.

Wood Badge is a Scouting leadership programme and the related award for adult leaders in the programmes of Scout associations throughout the world. Wood Badge courses aim to make Scouters better leaders by teaching advanced leadership skills and by creating a bond and commitment to the Scout movement.

Thank you to the organisers for putting together such a lekker fun event! โšœ๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ

June 2025 , our Pack Scouter and SGL attended Team Scream at Mizpah in Grabouw, lt was an amazing weekend where awesome Pack Scouters and leaders of the Western Cape got together for the weekend that was nothing short of laughter and camaraderie while learning various traditions from our beautiful cultures and heritage. We even had some leaders travelling from as far as Knysna!
Appreciation for the hard work and planning by Nicky, Sharon and team for the awesome teambuilding weekend!

On Friday evening our Cubs started off the term by joining this year's Mandela Day Challenge by packing their Jars of Hope.

Not only did we manage to hit our target of 67 Jars of Hope, we almost doubled it - by making 102 Jars of Hope - or 408 warm meals - for people in need as their contribution in spreading kindness for Mandela Day .

Our Jars of Hope was handed over Hunna Foundation NPC for distribution.

A huge SHUKRAN/THANK YOU/NKOSI to our Cub families for their donations.
