"A benefit (fāʾidah): Al-Qaffāl said in his fatāwā that abandoning prayer (ṣalāh) harms all Muslims because the one who prays says, 'O Allah, forgive me and the believing men and women,' and he must say in the tashahhud, 'Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah.' By neglecting the prayer, a person is thus falling short in their service to Allah, in their duty to the Messenger, in their duty to themselves, and in their duty to all Muslims. This is why the sin of abandoning prayer is so grave. Al-Subkī deduced from this that prayer involves a right of the servants along with the right of Allah, and that whoever abandons it fails in their duty towards all the believers who have passed and those yet to come until the Day of Judgment, due to the obligatory statement in prayer: 'Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah.'"
