🏆 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! Cape Town Surfriders take the overall Team Title at the historic 60th SA Open Surfing Championships! 🏆
What an unforgettable weekend hosting the milestone 60th edition right here at Long Beach, Kommetjie. The Deep South turned on rippable 2–3ft bowls, and our squad delivered!
Final District Standings:
🥇 Cape Town Surfriders – 30,580 pts
🥈 Buffalo City Surfriders – 28,510 pts
🥉 Cape Winelands – 25,270 pts
🥇 SA OPEN WOMEN’S CHAMPION: Massive congrats to our very own Emily Jenkinson for taking home the national title and keeping the crown in Cape Town!
🥈🥉 MEN’S FINALS FIREPOWER: In an incredible Open Men’s final won by Daniel Emslie, our boys charged hard:
🔥 Joshua Myburgh secured an epic 2nd place and was named Surfer of the Contest!
🔥 Simon Winter backed him up with a stellar 3rd place finish.
THE TEAM EFFORT:
Winning the team title took every single athlete pushing hard from Day 1—from standout heats by Ceara Knight, Kira Hofmeyer, Elijah Collier, and Olie Protheroe, to massive finals-day runs from Emily Winter, Brad Scott, and Paul Sampson.
(And a quick shoutout to our Club President taking 1st in the Team Managers clash! 😉)

60th Annual SA Open Championships: Day 2 Wrap-Up ⚡️
That’s a wrap for Day 2 down here at Witsands! The elements tested everyone to the absolute limit—blistering wind, biting cold, and a steady drizzle, paired with tricky 2-3 foot walls. Despite the brutal conditions, the surfers dug deep and left everything out on the water.
Here is how the action unfolded across a massive day of competition:

Joshua Myburg set the early standard in Open Men’s Round 3, Heat 1, steamrolling the competition with a 6 and a 7 using pure power surfing, and successfully progressed into the quarterfinals!

Ollie Prothero put in incredible hard work to get this deep into the event, taking a well-deserved point for his efforts despite a tough exit.

Simon Winter tore the door off the hinges in Heat 2, shredding his way to a dominant 1st place and securing a solid point for his progress into the quarterfinals.

Elijah Collier fought hard and bowed out after a stellar run, earning a well-deserved point for representing with pride.

Brad Scott showed pure grit in a grindy heat, managing to dig himself out of a hole to grab 2nd and punch his ticket to the quarterfinals.

Paul Sampson showed absolute ice in the veins, sitting in third for the entire heat before pulling off a crazy last-second aerial to sn**ch the victory and head to the quarters. ✈️

Emily Winter kicked off the Open Women’s quarterfinals in style, surfing super well with powerful backhand surfing to take 1st and lock in her spot in the semis.

Ceara Knight battled hard in some tricky conditions, bowing out in the quarters after a commendable effort.

Emily Jenkinson showed real class and aggression to take 1st in her quarterfinal heat, advancing to the semis.

Kira Hofmeyer picked up a point for her quarterfinal effort; finishing in third and bowing out, we are so proud of her and grateful to have her as part of the team.
