Parrots often rub or scrape their beaks against branches after feeding to remove food and wear away tiny amounts of keratin. Like our fingernails, a parrot's beak is constantly growing, so regular wear helps keep it in good condition.

Look at how much work its feet are doing. Even while leaning almost sideways, this Cape Parrot stays balanced on the branch as it presses its beak firmly against the bark. Its entire body is stretched low and sideways to get leverage. This shows just how flexible and coordinated Cape Parrots are in the canopy.

Parrots regularly use their beaks when climbing, almost like a third limb. A well-maintained beak is essential for feeding, climbing, manipulating objects, and even social interactions. It's one of the many ways Cape Parrots rely on their feet, beak, and body to move through the forest canopy.

This is remarkable!

When we released Vulpro's very first captive-bred Lappet-faced Vulture on 14 May, we knew we were sending a piece of history into the skies. Today, the tracking data left us absolutely breathless. In just under three weeks, this pioneering bird has flown over 1,597 kilometers, charting a spectacular course across the African continent.

Leaving his release site behind, he confidently navigated the vast, wild airspaces of Botswana, riding the thermals like a seasoned veteran. He didn't stop there. He has now officially crossed into Namibia, soaring right into the rich, expansive wilderness surrounding the iconic Etosha region.

To see a bird that was hatched and raised under our care seamlessly transition into the wild is the ultimate validation of our captive breeding program. He is living the life he was born for, covering massive distances and proving that the future of his species has a fighting chance.

We are watching his tracking data with immense pride as he explores his new Namibian territory.

Stay tuned as this incredible journey unfolds. ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ผ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ
