Eleven years ago, Pug Rescue South Africa rescued a small Pug named Pickle, he was approximately 3 or 4 years old at the time. Pickle had endured a difficult start in life, including alleged abuse, being taken over by an individual, and eventually being sold for just R200 on Junk Mail. Despite his challenging past, Pickle became a beloved mascot for Pug Rescue South Africa, capturing hearts worldwide.
Nine years ago, Pickle was diagnosed with diabetes. Thanks to the dedicated care he received at Pug Rescue South Africa, he lived a disciplined and well-managed life, surpassing the expectations of even his veterinary medicine specialist, who acknowledged that Pickle’s longevity was a testament to the exceptional care provided by the Pug Rescue South Africa. Despite a few health scares along the way, Pickle always bounced back with resilience.
On 17 August, around 08:30, Pickle crossed to the Rainbow Bridge, leaving behind a legacy that touched many animal lovers. In honour of his remarkable life, Pug Rescue South Africa will be establishing the Pickle the Dwarf Pug Foundation.
The lesson we can learn from Pickle is that no matter how bad your start was I life, surround yourself with the right people and you will be okay.
The Pickle the dwarf Pug Foundation will be managed under the umbrella of the existing Pug Rescue SA. All funds received into the Pug Rescue South Africa account will be accounted for separately and will be audited under Pug Rescue South Africa
We invite you to join us in commemorating the life of this extraordinary Pug by supporting the Pickle the Dwarf Pug Foundation. Your contributions will help continue the vital work that Pickle inspired through sterilising less fortunate animals throughout South Africa.
