JOB DESCRIPTION: PROJECT ACCOUNTANT
OTAB is looking for a suitably qualified accountant to be based in the East London office. The accountant will be responsible for accounting for income and expenses in projects. They will also be responsible for reporting internally to the management team monthly, and assist with preparation of external reports. The contract will run for a period of 12 months.
Requirements:
-B Comm in Financial Accounting.
-2 years relevant experience.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook applications.
- Previous use of an ERP will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of accounting standards and tax legislation.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Good communications skills (verbal and written).
- Strong ability to plan, execute and review activities.
- Deadline driven.
- Analytical skills, Strong Numeracy skills, attention to detail and ability to apply financial policies.
Responsibilities:
- Payment to suppliers for procured goods and services within allocated payment terms.
- Creditor reconciliations.
- Preparation and compilation of the salary payment records for stipends, trainers and other related staff.
- Preparation of SARS documents for employee tax submissions.
- Reconciliations of stipends paid.
- Reporting of remuneration paid on a monthly basis.
- Preparation and compilations of travel claims and refunds to staff.
- Co-ordinate and report on the budget.
- Recording of revenue and payments to monitor cash flows.
- Reporting on cash flows.
- Preparation for tranche claim submissions.
- Preparation of bank reconciliations.
- Preparation of all tax related information for submission to SARS.
- Recording and filing of all transactions to ensure tax compliance.
- Preparation of the reconciliations between received funding and spending for submissions.
- Preparation for month-end reporting to the management team.
- Reporting on cash position of the project versus upcoming spend.
- Maintaining stock control over PPE issued.
- Maintaining records of procured goods and services.
- Preparation of records for submission during audit periods.
- Any other duties as may be given by management.
