Watching over vulture nests and seeing the next generation taking their first steps is a truly special part of conservation.

Monitoring these nests allows us to keep track of the chicks’ development and the overall health of the breeding sites. Using drones makes this work much easier and more efficient, giving us a safe view of the nests without disturbing the birds.

Every healthy chick is another step towards protecting these incredible and important scavengers.

Quintin Le Grange is a new drone pilot at one of our conservation projects in one of KZN's most well known private reserves. Quintin has hit the ground running, deploying the drones for everything from anti-poaching patrols to wildlife monitoring and human-wildlife conflict mitigation. This project is another example of how technology is being used as a force multiplier for conservation efforts, complementing ground teams and traditional methods.
