Quintin Le Grange is a new drone pilot at one of our conservation projects in one of KZN's most well known private reserves. Quintin has hit the ground running, deploying the drones for everything from anti-poaching patrols to wildlife monitoring and human-wildlife conflict mitigation. This project is another example of how technology is being used as a force multiplier for conservation efforts, complementing ground teams and traditional methods.

All of our projects are donor funded and their contributions have direct impact on the frontlines of conservation. Visit our website to find out how you can put modern technology into the hands of conservation teams throughout Southern Africa.

WildSky Foundation & KZN Rhino Need Your Support

Our frontline conservation teams in KwaZulu-Natal are working tirelessly to protect some of Africa’s most threatened wildlife. Technology like drones has become a critical tool in helping rangers monitor wildlife, respond quickly to threats, and support anti-poaching efforts.

Right now, we are raising funds for two essential pieces of equipment that will directly support these field operations:

• Drone Batteries – R54,000
• Inverter System – R35,000

These items ensure that our drone teams can operate effectively in remote environments where reliable power is limited.

Every donation goes directly towards equipping the teams on the ground and strengthening rhino protection efforts.

You can donate by visiting our website:

This morning our drone team spotted crocodile snares on the banks of the river. Crocodiles are poached for their skins, meat and are used in traditional medicine.

The snares are set on the paths that the crocodiles use to enter and exit the water. They consist of a wire or cable snare that is attached to a long rope which is then secured to a tree. They are then disguised with vegetation and a bait bag is hung from a nearby tree to encourage the crocodiles out of the water. Once caught in the snare the crocodile is helpless and is later killed.

These snares had been recently set and luckily there were no crocodiles caught in them yet. Field rangers responded to the area and removed the wire snares and anchor ropes.

Another win for the team!

Modern conservation needs modern tools. In this video, our drones help rangers drive dog poachers out of a protected wildlife area—proving how powerful technology can be when it’s put to work for nature. At WildSky Foundation, we’re committed to equipping parks with these vital tools, giving those on the front line the eyes, speed, and intelligence they need to respond faster and protect wildlife more effectively than ever before. Wildlife crime is evolving, and so must the fight against it. If you believe in smarter, stronger protection for our wild places, please visit our website to join us on the front lines of conservation.
