Water disconnected
As Salaamu alaykum, Good day my community. Today, I want to share the story of a family living in Surrey Estate who are facing a difficult situation. Due to unfortunate circumstances, they have fallen behind on their water payments, leading to high interest and their water being disconnected. This family includes two members with disabilities and relies on two SASSA grants. Despite their efforts, the interest on their waterbill debt keeps increasing.
They have visited various municipal offices, from Athlone to the Cape Town Civic Centre, asking for help, but have found no solution. The water is off for over a month now. To reconnect their water, they need to pay R7,500, but they currently only have half of that amount. I have been supporting them by providing food parcels and transporting water from Newlands Swimming Pool, where water is available for free, but this is becoming overwhelming as I also work full time.
We are reaching out to someone who have knowledge about municipality laws and clause to get their water reconnected.
Another possible solution could be to organize a schedule where volunteers take turns to collect water for the family. For those willing to help or learn more contact Boeta Mogamat on 068580 9158 directly.
Remember, charity is another path to Jannah. Your kindness can make a real difference in their lives.❤️
