Dear Amcare supporter

Human Rights Month is commemorated in March to remind us about the sacrifices made in the past. Human Rights Day, which is set for Saturday 21 March, falls within this period.

Our Constitution is seen as one of the most progressive in the world. The Constitution is the ultimate protector of our Human Rights. We commemorate Human Rights Day to reinforce our commitment to the Bill of Rights as enshrined in our Constitution.

These rights include:
• Equality – everyone is equal before the law and has the right to equal protection and benefit of the law.
• Human dignity – everyone has inherent dignity and have their dignity respected and protected.
• Freedom of movement and residence – everyone has a right to freedom of movement and to reside anywhere in the country.
• Language and culture – everyone has the right to use the language and to participate in the cultural life of their choice.
• Life - everyone has the right to life.

Whether we are at the workplace, within communities, at schools, or with our partners and children, we need to cultivate the kind of responsibility towards these rights that we would like to see in our country’s future.

At Amcare we are dedicated to teaching, raise awareness and empower the most vulnerable on their individual rights as contained in the Constitution, with special focus on the rights of women.

If you would like to know more about what we do to empower the most vulnerable on their rights and responsibilities, contact us at 011 869 5856 or send an email to [email protected]

We are so excited to share how we were wonderfully surprised by Clr Samantha Nair. She invited us to Makro for a much-needed shopping trip for our Victim Empowerment Centre.
The timing could not have been more perfect, as our microwave and kettle had just given up on us! Thanks to her generosity, we were able to replace these essentials, purchase much-needed comforters, and even add a paper shredder to better serve the women who come to us for support.
Thank you, Samantha, for standing with us and supporting our Women’s Victim Empowerment Centre. Your kindness and generosity truly make a difference. 💛
