1 September 2026 | N4 Highway, Pretoria

On the evening of 1 September 2026, ProShield Security units were dispatched to assist with a serious vehicle-spiking incident on the N4 highway. On arrival, it was established that one victim was safe, while a second victim had reportedly been dragged into the surrounding bush by a group of at least six armed suspects.

The ProShield Security Drone Unit, working alongside members of the South African Police Service (SAPS), immediately deployed and began an extensive aerial search of the surrounding fields and bush. During the search, the missing victim was located alone in the field by the ProShield drone unit. The drone pilot maintained visual contact with the victim and directed SAPS members on the ground to his exact location.

The victim was successfully recovered alive and unharmed.

This incident is the latest in an alarming increase in vehicle-spiking attacks along the N1 and N4 highways, where motorists are deliberately targeted and subsequently robbed or subjected to other violent crimes.

ProShield Security is engaging with its partners within SAPS and other security providers regarding a coordinated operational response to the increase in these attacks. Intelligence sharing, aerial surveillance and coordinated ground operations will remain essential in combating the groups responsible.

ProShield Security remains committed to working alongside law enforcement and our security partners to combat violent crime and protect the residents and motorists of Pretoria.

Operational Success – Recovery of Stolen Motor Vehicle

Date: 25 August 2026
Time: Approximately 20:00
Location: Capital Park, Pretoria

On 25 August 2026 at approximately 20:00, ProShield Security's Tactical, K9 and Drone Units assisted SAPS Flying Squad, SAPS DOCC and SAPS Wonderboompoort during a coordinated operation in Capital Park, Pretoria.

The operation followed information received regarding the whereabouts of a motor vehicle that had been reported stolen. The vehicle, a Honda BR-V, was linked to an existing Wierdabrug SAPS case.

The information was communicated to the relevant operational role-players, and a coordinated response was initiated to the identified premises.

ProShield's Tactical and K9 Units assisted with securing and monitoring the area, while the ProShield Drone Unit conducted aerial surveillance. The aerial support provided an elevated overview of the premises and assisted operational teams in identifying the suspected stolen vehicle.

Operational members approached the premises, where the Honda BR-V was positively identified. Upon further investigation, SAPS members established that the vehicle was in the possession of two individuals and appeared to be in the process of being stripped, particularly in the front section.

During the operation, suspected narcotics, identified as Mandrax and he**in, were also found in the possession of the individuals.

SAPS members subsequently arrested the two individuals in connection with the possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle, with the discovery of the suspected narcotics forming part of the further investigation. The individuals were transported to SAPS Wonderboompoort for detention and processing.

LCRC and SAPS Towing were requested to attend the scene to assist with the appropriate handling and removal of the recovered vehicle.

The Honda BR-V was subsequently removed from the premises and transported to Vehicle Identification and Safekeeping (VIS), where it was booked in for safekeeping and further processing.

The coordinated operation demonstrates the effectiveness of combining SAPS resources with ProShield's Tactical, K9 and Drone capabilities. ProShield's operational support contributed to the securing and monitoring of the area, while aerial surveillance assisted in the identification and recovery of the stolen vehicle.

Operational Outcome:

• One reported stolen motor vehicle successfully recovered.
• Two individuals arrested by SAPS.
• Suspected Mandrax and he**in recovered from the individuals.
• ProShield Tactical, K9 and Drone Units provided operational support.
• The recovered vehicle was removed and placed into safekeeping for further investigation.

On 14 August 2026, a valued ProShield Security client in the Doornpoort area activated her panic alarm after managing to free herself following a traumatic house robbery.

The victim had been tied up and held inside her home for approximately four to five hours before she was able to free herself and raise the alarm.

IMMEDIATE RESPONSE

ProShield reaction units immediately responded to the panic activation and found the victim, who was understandably still in a state of shock.

It was established that the suspects had stolen numerous items from the residence, including:

- Two television sets
- A PlayStation
- A laptop
- A cellular phone
- Various other household and personal items

ProShield Tactical Units were immediately deployed to assist reaction officers and SAPS members on scene.

CRITICAL INFORMATION RECEIVED

Shortly afterwards, information was received from Echo One Security regarding a white Toyota Hilux suspected of being involved in house robberies. The vehicle had reportedly been seen operating in the area at approximately the same time as the robbery at the ProShield client's residence.

Echo One Security had further developed information regarding the possible location of the vehicle, a suspect, and potentially stolen property.

Acting on this intelligence, a joint task team was assembled.

*FIRST RAID*

The task team moved to the identified location and conducted an operation on the property.

A suspect was located and suspected stolen property was found in his possession.

Although the property recovered at this location was subsequently found not to belong to the ProShield client, the investigation continued.

Information obtained during the operation led the task team to the suspect's alleged accomplices and additional locations where further suspected stolen property could potentially be recovered.

*SECOND LOCATION*

The joint team immediately proceeded to a second location in the Nelmaphius area.

Upon arrival, two additional suspects were identified and searched.

Stolen property was discovered in their possession.

Further investigation and questioning of the suspects then led officers to a third location.

*THIRD RAID & RECOVERY*

The task team immediately moved on the third premises.

During the operation, the two outstanding television sets stolen from the ProShield client's residence were successfully recovered.

The operation ultimately resulted in three suspects being detained, the suspected vehicle being secured, and stolen property being recovered.

The suspects and vehicle were taken to Lyttelton SAPS, while the recovered property was booked in for the necessary investigation and processing.

*JOINT OPERATION*

This successful operation demonstrates what can be achieved when private security companies and the South African Police Service share intelligence, coordinate resources and act decisively.

From the initial panic activation to the development of intelligence, multiple locations being identified, suspects being traced and stolen property being recovered, this was a true collaborative effort.

Well done to every member involved in this operation.

On 12 August 2026, a valued ProShield Security client, a fuelling station in Sinoville, activated their panic alarm following an armed robbery in progress.

ProShield Armed Response was immediately dispatched to the premises. Upon arrival, our response members were met with active gunfire from the suspects. Due to the serious and volatile nature of the incident, ProShield’s Tactical Unit was activated and additional support was requested.

What followed was a coordinated multi-disciplinary response involving members from ProShield Security, SAPS, Lapua Strike Force, GAC Risk Solutions, TrackerSA and other operational role players.

During the response, information was received regarding suspect vehicles believed to be involved in the robbery. Members identified one of the vehicles and a high-speed pursuit ensued. Suspects fired shots from the vehicle during the pursuit, with security members returning fire. The suspect vehicle subsequently crashed on the R566 towards Rosslyn.

A coordinated tactical operation was subsequently launched at the identified property. Upon arrival, members were again met with heavy gunfire from multiple suspects armed with rifles and pistols.

The multi-disciplinary team proceeded with the operation, resulting in the arrest of three additional suspects and the recovery of two vehicles believed to have been used in the commission of the crime.

Inside the property, members recovered the ATM and drop safe taken during the robbery. Both were found undamaged and had not been cut open. An R5 rifle, ammunition and an additional magazine were also recovered, together with clothing, gloves, balaclavas, false registration plates and an undisclosed amount of cash.

A total of four suspects were arrested.

ITEMS RECOVERED

- ATM safe
- Drop safe
- R5 rifle
- Ammunition and additional magazine
- White Volkswagen Polo
- White Suzuki Ertiga
- White Ford Ranger, sought in connection with CAS 757/07/2026, Thembisa
- Gloves, balaclavas and clothing

All members involved were accounted for and no injuries were reported.

The recovered vehicles and items were processed by the relevant SAPS investigative and forensic role players and taken to the designated VCIU and SAP13 sections for further investigation.

Further investigations are underway to establish links between the arrested suspects and other outstanding cases.

ProShield Security is proud to have formed part of this coordinated multi-disciplinary response alongside SAPS and our fellow security and tracking partners. The successful outcome demonstrates the importance of rapid response, communication, intelligence sharing and cooperation between private security and law enforcement agencies when dealing with serious and violent criminal activity.

A special acknowledgement goes to Lapua Strike Force, GAC Risk Solutions and TrackerSA for their contribution and cooperation during the operation, as well as to all SAPS members and other role players who assisted in bringing the incident to a successful conclusion.
