Rise Against Hunger Africa primarily engages volunteers in meal packaging events across South Africa, where groups come together to assemble nutritious meals that are then distributed to Early Childhood Development centres and communities in need. Thank you to every corporate partner, corporate volunteer, Rise Against Hunger Africa volunteer, ambassador and staff member who made our Mandela Day campaign possible.

Together, you helped us pack an incredible 2,955,270 meals, supporting 12,879 children for an entire year.

Across 11 cities, 161 corporate partners and 13,113 volunteers came together with one shared purpose: to nourish today and help feed the future.

These numbers represent far more than meals packed. They represent thousands of people choosing to give their time, energy, and resources to create meaningful, measurable impact.

Did you know that one meal pack provides 6 nutritious meals for children?

At a Rise Against Hunger Africa meal-packing event, volunteers work together on a production line to combine five simple ingredients: vitamins & minerals, vegetables, soya and rice into a nutritious meal pack.

Here’s how the numbers add up:
1 box = 36 meal packs
1 meal pack = 6 meals
1 box = 216 meals

Every scoop, seal and box represents an opportunity to support children through Early Childhood Development centres and help them access the nutrition they need to grow, learn and thrive.

The road to the 2027 Comrades Marathon starts here. The Amabeadibeadi Charity Entries open on 25 August 2026 at 10:00, with 1,000 guaranteed charity entries available on a first-come, first-served basis.

By choosing Rise Against Hunger Africa through the Race for Charity platform, you can turn your Comrades journey into an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the fight against hunger.
