Today, we remember the youth of 1976 who stood boldly for their right to quality education and a better future. Their legacy reminds us that young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow, they are changemakers today.

At Rise Against Hunger Africa, we believe that no young person should have their potential limited by hunger. By ensuring access to nutritious meals, we help create opportunities for children and youth to learn, grow, and thrive.

As we reflect on this important day, let us continue investing in young people, listening to their voices, and working together to build a future where every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

This Feature Friday, we are spotlighting Bronwyn Roussot, who is taking on the Comrades Marathon with a powerful mission to help fight hunger.

Bronwyn is a professional nurse with almost 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Through her work, she has witnessed first hand the devastating impact hunger has on people’s physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing.

For Bronwyn, this journey is about more than completing the race. It is about creating meaningful change.

“No one should go to bed hungry. So many people, especially children, face hunger every day. I dedicate my UP WALK to raising funds to support sustainable food programmes that help break the cycle of hunger.

It is not about crossing the finish line, it is about taking action and inspiring others to do the same. Every step, every donation, and every bit of effort brings us a little closer to a world where the most vulnerable have access to the most basic human need, food.”

This past month, we had the pleasure of welcoming members of Zambrero’s global team to South Africa as part of their annual Vision Trip.

As one of our valued partners, Zambrero has made an incredible impact through their Plate 4 Plate initiative, recently reaching the remarkable milestone of 100 million meals donated worldwide. During their visit, we had the opportunity to show them the real-life impact behind that achievement.

The team visited several Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres supported by Rise Against Hunger Africa, where they saw firsthand how access to nutritious meals helps transform communities.

At Rise Against Hunger Africa, we believe that every change starts with a meal. When ECD centres receive consistent food support, they can invest more resources into improving learning environments, upgrading facilities, training educators, and creating opportunities for children to thrive.

A daily meal does more than nourish a child, it strengthens families, empowers educators, and helps build resilient communities.

We are grateful to the Zambrero team for taking the time to connect with the children and communities they help support. Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to creating lasting change. 💙🙏
