Reduction of Humanitarian Disaster Organization Implements Heritage Building Restoration Project in Old Sana’a – Al-Nu’man Neighborhood

The Reduction of Humanitarian Disaster Organization (RHDO) has successfully implemented a restoration project for a historic heritage building located in the Al-Nu’man Neighborhood of Old Sana’a, as part of its ongoing efforts to preserve Yemen’s architectural and cultural heritage.

The project aimed to address structural and architectural damage caused by aging, humidity, and insufficient maintenance, while ensuring the preservation of the building’s traditional character through the use of compatible restoration materials and traditional construction techniques.

The intervention included a comprehensive technical assessment of the building, documentation of its structural condition, and restoration works targeting damaged walls, roofs, decorative gypsum elements, and traditional wooden windows.

Particular emphasis was placed on the selection of locally sourced and heritage-compatible materials, including traditional mud plaster, gypsum, natural stone, and wood, in order to maintain the building’s historical authenticity and architectural integrity.

RHDO emphasized that the use of appropriate restoration materials is a critical factor in safeguarding heritage structures, as incompatible modern materials can accelerate deterioration and negatively impact the visual and structural identity of historic buildings.

The project also contributed to supporting local craftsmen specialized in traditional construction methods, helping preserve valuable heritage skills and promoting community participation in cultural preservation efforts.

This initiative reflects RHDO’s continued commitment to protecting cultural heritage and supporting sustainable restoration practices that contribute to preserving the unique urban identity of Old Sana’a, one of the world’s most significant historic cities and a recognized cultural heritage site.

منظمة الحد من الكوارث الإنسانية تنفذ مشروعاً لترميم مبنى تراثي في صنعاء القديمة باستخدام مواد تقليدية تحافظ على الهوية المعمارية

نفذت منظمة الحد من الكوارث الإنسانية مشروعاً لترميم أحد المباني التراثية في مدينة صنعاء القديمة، ضمن جهودها الرامية إلى الحفاظ على التراث العمراني والهوية المعمارية التاريخية للمدينة.

ويهدف المشروع إلى معالجة الأضرار التي تعرض لها المبنى نتيجة عوامل الزمن والرطوبة وضعف أعمال الصيانة، مع الحفاظ على الطابع التقليدي للمبنى واستخدام مواد ترميم متوافقة مع مكوناته الأصلية.

وشملت أعمال المشروع تنفيذ تقييم فني شامل للمبنى، وتوثيق حالته الإنشائية والمعمارية، إلى جانب تنفيذ أعمال ترميم للجدران والأسقف والزخارف التقليدية والنوافذ الخشبية المتضررة.

وركزت أعمال الترميم على استخدام مواد محلية وتقنيات بناء تقليدية، بما في ذلك الطين والجص والأحجار المحلية والأخشاب الطبيعية، بهدف الحفاظ على الخصائص المعمارية للمبنى وضمان استدامته على المدى الطويل.

وأكدت منظمة الحد من الكوارث الإنسانية أن اختيار مواد الترميم المناسبة يمثل أحد أهم عناصر نجاح مشاريع الحفاظ على التراث، نظراً لما قد تسببه المواد غير المتوافقة من أضرار تؤثر على سلامة المباني التاريخية وهويتها البصرية.

كما ساهم المشروع في تعزيز مشاركة الحرفيين المحليين المتخصصين في أعمال البناء التقليدي، ودعم الجهود الرامية إلى نقل المهارات التراثية والحفاظ عليها.

Reducing Environmental and Public Health Risks through Waste Management in a Climate Change Context – Ibb Governorate

As part of its ongoing efforts to reduce environmental and public health risks and respond to climate-related challenges, the Reduction of Humanitarian Disaster Organization (RHDO) implemented an environmental activity involving the distribution of 20 waste collection bins across selected locations in Ibb Governorate, in partnership with Yemen Con Contracting Company, on 12 April 2026

This intervention aims to strengthen solid waste management practices and reduce the accumulation of waste in urban areas, which remains a key driver of environmental pollution and the spread of communicable diseases. These risks are further exacerbated by the impacts of climate change, which intensify environmental and public health vulnerabilities in densely populated settings

The waste bins were strategically distributed based on field assessments, prioritizing areas with limited sanitation services and high population density. The initiative is designed to support communities with practical tools that promote proper waste disposal practices and contribute to cleaner and safer living environments

RHDO emphasized that this activity forms part of a broader approach to promoting integrated waste management, with the objective of reducing environmental and health risks while strengthening community resilience to climate-related challenges in urban contexts

The organization also expressed its appreciation for the effective partnership with Yemen Con Contracting Company, highlighting the importance of collaboration between humanitarian actors and the private sector in delivering sustainable environmental solutions

الحد من المخاطر البيئية والصحية من خلال إدارة المخلفات في سياق التغير المناخي – محافظة أب

في إطار جهودها المستمرة للحد من المخاطر البيئية والصحية وتعزيز الاستجابة للتحديات المرتبطة بالتغير المناخي، نفّذت منظمة الحد من الكوارث الإنسانية نشاطًا بيئيًا تمثل في توزيع 20 برميل نظافة في عدد من المواقع المستهدفة بمحافظة أب ، وذلك بالشراكة مع شركة يمن كون للمقاولات، بتاريخ 12 أبريل 2026.

ويأتي هذا التدخل ضمن مساعي المنظمة لتحسين إدارة المخلفات الصلبة والحد من تراكم النفايات في المناطق الحضرية، لما لذلك من دور مباشر في تقليل التلوث البيئي والحد من انتشار الأمراض المرتبطة بسوء إدارة النفايات، خاصة في ظل التغيرات المناخية التي تزيد من تعقيد التحديات البيئية والصحية.

وقد تم توزيع براميل النظافة في مواقع تم اختيارها بناءً على تقييم ميداني للاحتياجات، مع التركيز على المناطق التي تعاني من ضعف خدمات النظافة وارتفاع الكثافة السكانية. ويهدف هذا النشاط إلى دعم المجتمع المحلي بأدوات عملية تسهم في تحسين السلوكيات البيئية وتعزيز ممارسات التخلص الآمن من النفايات.

Signing of a Partnership Agreement to Strengthen Environmental and Climate Action in Yemen

In a significant step toward advancing environmental efforts and addressing climate challenges, Humanitarian Disaster Reduction Organization signed a strategic partnership agreement with General Authority for Environment and Climate Impact on April 7, 2026 The agreement aims to unify efforts and enhance joint coordination in the fields of environmental protection, climate change adaptation, and disaster risk reduction, contributing to strengthening the resilience of local communities, particularly in the most vulnerable areas The agreement outlines several key areas of cooperation, including Implementation of joint environmental and climate projects Strengthening community awareness programs on environmental and climate change issues Supporting initiatives aimed at mitigating the impacts of natural disasters Exchange of expertise and institutional and technical capacity building The agreement was signed on behalf of the Authority by its Chairman, Mr. Mohammed Amer, and on behalf of the organization by its President, Mr. Taha Ismail During the signing ceremony, representatives of both parties emphasized the importance of this partnership in light of the growing environmental challenges facing Yemen, noting that joint action is a cornerstone for achieving sustainable development and protecting natural resources for future generations For its part, the Humanitarian Disaster Reduction Organization reaffirmed its commitment to continuing collaboration with government partners to strengthen effective disaster response and integrate environmental considerations into all its humanitarian interventions This agreement comes within the framework of national and international efforts aimed at addressing the impacts of climate change and promoting sustainable environmental management, ultimately improving the lives of local communities across Yemen.

توقيع اتفاقية شراكة لتعزيز العمل البيئي والمناخي في اليمن

The United Nations and humanitarian partners today published the 2026 Yemen Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP). The plan seeks US$2.16 billion to provide life-saving humanitarian assistance to 12 million people across Yemen, including women, men and children.

After more than a decade of crisis, humanitarian needs in Yemen continue to rise amid prolonged conflict and subsequent economic decline, displacements, recurrent epidemics, climate shocks and funding cuts. In 2026, 22.3 million people require humanitarian assistance and protection services. This includes 5.2 million internally displaced people, alongside migrants and refugees.

Acute food insecurity remains alarming, with 18.3 million people affected. More than 2.2 million children under five are acutely malnourished, including more than half a million children suffering from severe acute malnutrition. Essential services remain under severe strain. Nearly 40 per cent of health facilities are partially or not functional and 14.4 million people need water, sanitation and hygiene assistance.

Through the 2026 HNRP, humanitarian partners aim to reach 12 million people, prioritizing 9.4 million in the highest severity areas, as resources remain limited.

“With needs increasing, challenging operational conditions, including on safety and security of humanitarian workers, and resources shrinking, our response is focused on delivering principled, inclusive and accountable life-saving assistance, to those most in need. The humanitarian community will also continue sustaining work and engagement with national and local institutions and partners and strengthen links with development actors. At the same time, the root causes of the crisis must be addressed” said the Humanitarian coordinator a.i. in Yemen, Zeina Ali.

Humanitarian action continues to save lives and reduce suffering across Yemen, However, sustained and flexible funding is urgently needed to prevent the situation from worsening and to avoid catastrophic outcomes for millions of women, men and children.

Reduction of Humanitarian Disaster Organization Distributes 2,000 Hygiene Kits to Support the Most Vulnerable Families – March 2026

As part of its ongoing efforts to prevent the spread of communicable diseases and promote improved hygiene practices, the Reduction of Humanitarian Disaster (RHDO) implemented a project to distribute 2,000 hygiene kits to vulnerable households during March 2026, with generous support from Yemen Kun Cleaning Products Company.

The initiative primarily targeted poor households headed by women as well as persons with disabilities, who are among the most vulnerable groups and often face significant challenges in accessing basic hygiene supplies due to difficult economic and living conditions.

Each hygiene kit contained a range of essential items aimed at improving household hygiene and reducing the risk of disease transmission. These included chlorine, toilet cleaner (Flash), laundry soap, hand soap, Dettol disinfectant, and other sanitizing materials, in addition to a water container, a washing basin, protective gloves, and a water tap (spigot). The provided items are intended to support families in maintaining a cleaner and healthier household environment.

This initiative comes amid growing concerns over the spread of cholera and other waterborne diseases, particularly in communities facing limited access to safe water and sanitation services. Through this intervention, the organization aims to strengthen preventive health practices and help reduce the risk of disease outbreaks within vulnerable communities.

The Reduction of Humanitarian Disaster Organization emphasized that this initiative forms part of its broader humanitarian programs designed to support the most vulnerable groups and strengthen their capacity to cope with ongoing health and economic challenges.

The organization also expressed its appreciation to Yemen Kun Cleaning Products Company for its valuable support in making this humanitarian intervention possible and helping ensure that assistance reached families most in need.

RHDO reaffirmed its commitment to continuing health and relief initiatives that promote public health, support vulnerable populations, and contribute to preventing the spread of diseases, particularly in light of the ongoing humanitarian challenges facing communities.

منظمة الحد من الكوارث الإنسانية توزّع 2000 حقيبة صحية لدعم الأسر الأكثر هشاشة – مارس 2026

في إطار جهودها المستمرة للحد من انتشار الأمراض الوبائية وتعزيز ممارسات النظافة والصحة العامة، نفّذت منظمة الحد من الكوارث الإنسانية مشروع توزيع 2000 حقيبة صحية للأسر الأكثر احتياجًا، وذلك بدعم من شركة يمن كون للمنظفات خلال شهر مارس 2026.

واستهدف المشروع بشكل أساسي الأسر الفقيرة التي تقودها نساء وذوي الإعاقة، باعتبارهم من الفئات الأكثر عرضة للمخاطر الصحية وصعوبة في الحصول على مستلزمات النظافة الأساسية في ظل الظروف الاقتصادية والمعيشية الصعبة.

وقد احتوت الحقائب الصحية على مجموعة من المواد الأساسية التي تساعد الأسر على تعزيز ممارسات النظافة والوقاية من الأمراض، من بينها الكلور، والفلاش (منظف دورات المياه)، وصابون الغسيل، وصابون اليد، ومطهر ديتول، إضافة إلى مواد معقمة أخرى، إلى جانب دبة ماء، وحوض غسيل، وقفازات، وبزبوز (صنبور للمياه)، فضلًا عن مواد تنظيف مختلفة تساعد الأسر على الحفاظ على بيئة صحية داخل منازلهم.

ويأتي تنفيذ هذا المشروع في ظل تزايد المخاوف من انتشار مرض الكوليرا والأمراض المرتبطة بتلوث المياه وضعف خدمات النظافة، حيث تسعى المنظمة من خلال هذه المبادرة إلى تعزيز ممارسات الوقاية الصحية لدى الأسر المستفيدة والحد من مخاطر تفشي الأمراض المعدية داخل المجتمع.

بالشراكة مع منظمة الهجرة الدولية مشروعً تحسين خدمات المياه والصرف الصحي في مخيم الخميس للنازحين

في إطار جهودها المستمرة لتحسين الظروف المعيشية داخل مخيمات النزوح، أعلنت منظمة الحد من الكوارث الإنسانية عن استكمال تنفيذ مشروع حيوي في مخيم الخميس للنازحين، شمل تركيب عدد من خزّانات المياه وبناء حمّامات جديدة مخصصة لخدمة مئات الأسر التي تعيش في ظروف إنسانية بالغة الصعوبة.
ويهدف هذا المشروع إلى معالجة التحديات المتزايدة المرتبطة بنقص المياه وضعف خدمات الصرف الصحي داخل المخيم، والتي تُعد من أبرز العوامل التي تعرض الأسر لمخاطر صحية كبيرة. وقد جاءت هذه التدخلات استجابة مباشرة للاحتياجات الملحّة التي كشفت عنها زيارات التقييم الميداني، خصوصًا مع تزايد الكثافة السكانية في المخيم وافتقاد كثير من الأسر لاحتياجاتها الأساسية
وتضمّن التدخل تركيب خزّانات مياه بسعة 2000 ليتر و1000 لتر مناسبة لضمان توفير مصدر دائم وآمن للمياه للأسر النازحة، إضافة إلى بناء حمّامات محكمة الإنشاء تراعي معايير الصحة والسلامة وتعزز الخصوصية والكرامة الإنسانية، مع تخصيص مرافق منفصلة للنساء والأطفال.
وأكدت المنظمة أن توفير بنية تحتية آمنة للمياه والصرف الصحي يُعد ركيزة أساسية لحماية السكان من الأمراض المرتبطة بتلوث المياه والبيئة، وأن هذه الخطوة تمثل جزءًا من التزامها الدائم بتحسين جودة الحياة داخل مخيمات النزوح كما أشادت بالتعاون البنّاء من قِبل المجتمع المحلي التي ساهم في إنجاز المشروع ضمن إطار زمني قياسي.

منظمة الحد من الكوارث الإنسانية تنفّذ مبادرة صحية عاجلة لدعم الأسر الأشد فقرًا -صنعاء

ضمن جهودها المستمرة لتعزيز حماية الأسر النازحة من المخاطر الصحية المتزايدة، أعلنت منظمة الحد من الكوارث الإنسانية عن تنفيذ مبادرة صحية موسّعة تستهدف الأسر الأشد فقرًا وتم التوزيع في مقرها في صنعاء، وذلك عبر توزيع حقائب صحية متكاملة وتنظيم جلسات توعية ركزت على الوقاية من الأمراض المنتشرة، وعلى رأسها الكوليرا.
وتأتي هذه الخطوة في وقت تواجه فيه عدة أسر فقيرة ظروفًا صحية صعبة ونقصًا في خدمات النظافة والمياه، الأمر الذي يجعل الأسر الأكثر هشاشة أكثر عرضة للإصابة بالأمراض. وفي هذا الإطار، شملت المبادرة توزيع مكونات صحية أساسية تساعد الأسر على تحسين ممارسات النظافة الشخصية في بيوتهم ، بما في ذلك مواد التعقيم والصابون ومستلزمات النظافة النسائية.
كما نفّذت الفرق الصحية التابعة للمنظمة نشاطات توعوية موجهة إلى الأسر، تطرقت إلى أساليب الوقاية من الكوليرا وكيفية الحفاظ على المياه والغذاء في ظروف شحّ الخدمات، إلى جانب شرح طرق متابعة العلامات الأولية للمرض وضرورة التوجه السريع إلى المرافق الصحية عند الاشتباه بأي حالة.
وأكدت فرح زيد عن المنظمة في بيانها أن هذه المبادرة تأتي استجابة للاحتياجات الملحّة التي تم رصدها خلال المتابعة الميدانية، وأن تحسين سلوكيات النظافة يمثل أحد أهم الأدوات الفعّالة للحد من مخاطر تفشي الأمراض المعدية ومن ضمنها الكوليرا. وأضافت أن دعم الأسر الأشد فقرًا يظل أولوية قصوى لضمان عدم ترك الفئات الأكثر هشاشة في مواجهة المخاطر الصحية بمفردها.
وتوجّهت السيدة فرح بالشكر لمنظمة الهجرة الدولية التي كانت الداعم الرئيسي لهذه المشاريع المهمة وأيضا المتطوعين الذين أسهموا في تنفيذ العملية بسلاسة وضمان وصول المساعدات إلى مستحقيها، مؤكدة استمرارها في توسيع برامج الصحة المجتمعية وتكثيف أنشطة التوعية خلال الفترة المقبلة.
