PASIDAYAW FESTIVAL COSTUME

“Sierra, Diwa ng Pasidayaw”

Rising with quiet grandeur, this national costume is a living tribute to Aurora Province — where the land meets the sea. Inspired by the mighty Sierra Madre Mountain Range and the vibrant spirit of the Pasidayaw Festival, the design embodies the harmony between nature, culture, and celebration.

The silhouette mirrors the protective embrace of the Sierra Madre, cascading in sculpted layers of oceanic blues and forest greens — symbolizing Aurora’s meeting of mountains and waves. Flowing, petal-like structures ripple like the Pacific tides, while moss-covered textures at the base represent the province’s lush rainforests and fertile highlands.

Adorning the bodice and skirt are intricate patterns inspired by Tereptepism Art, originated by Aurora’s renowned artist Sherwin Paul Gonzales. The rhythmic circular motifs and detailed beadwork echo the pulsating energy of Pasidayaw — a thanksgiving of heritage, abundance, and unity.

Embedded within the design are coffee beans and coconut elements, honoring the rich agricultural pride of Dipaculao. These details are not mere embellishments; they symbolize livelihood, resilience, and the nurturing spirit of the land.

Flame Breasted Fruit Doves perch gently upon the structure, an endemic specie of the sierra madre while the radiant green halo backdrop signifies life, protection, and the enduring strength of Sierra Madre.

This costume is not just worn — it is embodied. It tells the story of a province cradled by mountains, kissed by the sea, and sustained by culture, art, and harvest.

Aurora stands tall — resilient, radiant, and forever in celebration. 🌊🌿
