Lewis Webb, Jr. is the Director of Peacebuilding for the American Friends Service Committee(AFSC), the Quaker peacemaking and service organization that was a co-recipient of the 1947 Nobel Peace Prize.

Lewis served for 12 years as a prosecuting attorney before he decided to become an agent for ending the school-to-prison pipeline that had transformed the United States into an “incarceration nation.”

As the Director of the Healing Justice Program for the AFSC, Lewis developed creative strategies for healing our young people, their families, and their communities, rather than destroying their futures through incarceration and its lifelong stigma.

In April of 2023, Lewis assumed a new role as Director of U.S. Peacebuilding for AFSC. Now, he continues his mission by working to create a future free of militarism and violence in all aspects of our society.

Join Lewis Webb, Jr. at the F@F Anniversary Vigil on 12.6.24.

The human right to conscientiously object to war has been abolished by martial law in the Ukraine.

The option of “alternative service” vanished after martial law was declared last year. But some have refused to serve, and now face jail time and skepticism about their motives.

The promise was a war waged by all-seeing drones and precision bombs. The documents show flawed intelligence, faulty targeting, years of civilian deaths — and scant accountability.

This is what I watched happen in 2007 IN FRONT of the Capitol steps on SATURDAY, when we protested the Iraq War. Congress had adjourned. The only ones wearing camo were Iraq Vets Against the War. They arrested so many of us that they ran out of capacity to hold any more and stopped after a couple of hours.
