Black Pear Gardening Club About Us
We are a gardening club. We meet in the parish hall in Powick, Worcestershire, at 2.30pm usually on the third Saturday.

Our Aims and Activities
Our Aims
Our gardening club aims to bring together those of all ages with a common interest in horticulture so that they might share their enthusiasm and enjoyment of plants, gardens and gardening. To provide an opportunity for members to broaden their knowledge of plants, the growing of healthy fruit and vegetables and to encourage planting which restores biodiversity to o

ur gardens: creating an environment which supports bees, butterflies and other pollinators. Our Activities
In the autumn and winter months we host illustrated talks on topics relating to horticulture and biodiversity. For spring and summer months garden visits are organised. At our autumn and winter meetings plants are on sale. Once a year we arrange a Gardeners’ Market at Powick Parish Hall, Worcestershire. Stalls are hosted by local specialist nurseries and others and also by our own members. Our gallery pages provide a photographic record of our field trips and our scrapbook pages give members an opportunity to express their views and share their experiences and knowledge.

On Saturday Ian Sadler gave an interesting talk to the club about the Amazing Nurseries & Gardens of North West Germany. We were surprised to hear that they are among the largest propagators of rhododendrons often supplying Holland with small cuttings for them to propagate on. It was also interesting to see the scale and mechanisation of their Nurseries.
