Oh, Family... Where are you?

Hi, I’m Tagi!

I’m a seven-month-old American Pit Bull Terrier puppy with a glossy chocolate-brown coat and a big white chest that makes me look especially stylish. Right now, I weigh about 50 pounds, but I’m still growing and expect to be a strong, lively 60–70 pounds full of energy and excitement!

Are you an active person? I’m asking because I need someone who matches my energy. I love having a backyard where I can run (just make sure there is a tall fence because I have hops!), enjoy walks (though sometimes I get distracted by those mischievous squirrels), and like to keep my mind busy. On that note, I’m crate-trained, house-trained, and already know commands like sit, down, and “kennel up.” I’m very smart and motivated by treats, so learning new tricks is easy for me! Not only am I dapper, but I’m clever too—you just have to spend time with me to teach me more.

My favorite toys include Benebones, peanut butter Kongs, and balls (which I proudly carry around as trophies). After lots of play, I enjoy winding down for some cozy cuddles.

Humans? I’m discovering how wonderful they can be, though I take a little time to warm up. But once I trust you, there’s no turning back.

Because I’m so energetic, I’d do best in a home without young children now. I am a fantastically fun playmate to all dogs, and as a puppy, I do great taking corrections well from older dogs.
With patience and consistency, I’m confident I can become a fantastic addition to your family.
If I sound like your guy, click that apply button so we can meet!

Tagi is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and current on heartworm/flea/tick preventatives. His adoption fee is $275. Apply to adopt him at PawsitiveTailsKC.org, and his foster will be in touch to set up a meeting once you’re approved.

There’s a new DUDE in town, and his name is “Coop-Dog”. 😎 Ok, his name is really Coop, but he has enough swagger to pull off Coop-Dog. So, what makes this boy “swag”? Keep reading.

Coop is a 4-year-old Great Pyrenees who currently lives in a foster home with five dogs, three cats, two kids, AND chickens! How’s that for well socialized? He is housetrained and knows how to “sit” and “down” when asked. This cool guy is fine on a leash, but he would prefer exploring his surroundings on his own. He has energy to burn, and he will need plenty of opportunities to expend it. Toys? He can take them or leave them, but make sure those shoes are put up; that is his “toy” of choice. Coop doesn’t seem to think rules are made for him. Hehe

Coop is a handsome guy, and he knows it, so he will shed his coat quite a bit to make room for his stunning new fur. He is loving and sweet, but he can get “pushy” when he wants to go somewhere. He will push his way through. We call it pushy, he calls it swaggy. He can jump 4-foot-tall fences, so ensure you have a taller and secure fence, so he doesn’t go on an unsupervised walkabout.

Coop is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccinations and flea/tick/heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $175. You can apply to meet him at PawsitiveTailsKC.org. Once approved, a meet-and-greet will be scheduled.

🎅 Santa is usually the MVP of Christmas, but none of the magic would happen without the assistance of elves. Elves are known for boundless energy and unbreakable cheer! 🧑‍🎄

We have a few elves of our own that we would like to introduce you to! These puppies are 8 weeks old and going to be large adult dogs. Their DNA test shows they are primarily a German Shepherd and Great Pyrenees mix. This means these pups are going to be smart, sweet, and very fluffy!

We have seven unique elves to choose from! You just need to decide: boy? or girl?

The males are:
❄️ Buttons Frostwhistle
🔔 Jingle McJangle
😉 Winky Sparklepuff
🎉 Zippy Glitterpants.

If you prefer a female elf, we have
🤣 Giggles Gumdrop
🧁 Sprinkles McTwist
🩰 Tootsie Tinseltoes

Our elves are friendly with people and other dogs. They enjoy playing with toys and are treat motivated which makes them easier to train. They love to run and play. They will play hard like they are having a big crazy party, then crash out cold! The male puppies love to be held and snuggled. They all love to be outside no matter what the weather.

Santa’s little helpers are available to meet by applying at PawsitiveTailsKC.org. Their adoption fee is $275. They will all be spayed or neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and current on heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives before making the journey to your home.

Maybe you can help us solve a little mystery: Why hasn’t Scrappy Doo had any serious applications in almost a year?

Let's unmask the mystery, like Scrappy's namesake cartoon, and turn this puzzle into a satisfactory ending for our guy.

Scrappy Doo is a happy, playful, social dude who likes everyone he meets – human or dog. He is good with kids, and he is fun and pretty adorable with that charming smile of his. He is about 3 years old, weighs just under 60 lbs. and is a Pittie/Mastiff Cane Corso mix.

He came into foster because someone witnessed one of his previous people physically hurting our sweet guy. In spite of how he was treated, Scrappy sees the best in people and is one of those triumphant spirits who has his compass firmly pointed in the direction of living his best life and never looking back.

He has the most endearing bow legs, and his ears make different decisions every day about which way to point. He loves his toys and his friends, and just wants to have a good time. After playtime, he likes to cuddle up with his people and snuggle right in.

He likes to play and mix it up with other dogs, and he definitely gets along with all of them. Recently we’ve discovered that some of his previous mistreatment may have physically affected him more than we realized. So, he should live with a dog(s) who he can banter with but maybe not play too rough and tumble, so he doesn’t get hurt. Or, he’d do great as an only dog too, so you can dote on him every day.
He is house trained and crate trained and knows how to behave around the house, like every good sidekick should.

None of those clues above have helped us understand why Scrappy has lingered in foster for this long – what do you think? He’s just a regular guy looking for a regular furever home where he’ll be appreciated for the rest of his life. Is that your home?

Scrappy Doo is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and current on heartworm preventative and flea/tick prevention. His adoption fee is $175. To meet him, apply to adopt at PawsitiveTailsKC.org.

Do you need a little happiness, right this very minute? Haul out the Holly! And every minute from now on will be happy, no matter the season.

Holly is a 1-year-old treasure with red, mahogany and white markings. She weighs 37 pounds, and we think she’s a Boxer mix.

She is one of the most adaptable dogs, one who we believe would make a great addition to just about any household or family. Holly has the perfect amount of curiosity regarding new people – she’s not anxious but also not over-excited. She is also playful and friendly with other dogs. She hasn’t met a cat or other animals yet, but she seems like the type who can be trained to peacefully co-exist.

Holly jumps at the chance to play, but on quiet days she is happy to laze about. She walks well on the leash, and she has a lower-medium energy level. She likes all toys and will happily play fetch with you, but she doesn’t have to fetch all day. She is not very barky, but she’ll let you know if there’s something worthy of your attention.

At night, Holly sleeps well no matter where she is: in a crate, on the bed or on the couch. She is in a foster home with young children, whom she is friendly toward, and she occasionally needs reminding to be gentle with them. She seems to be getting better at that already since being in foster.

She is house trained and crate trained.

Holly is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She’ll come to you current on heartworm preventative and flea/tick prevention. Her adoption fee is $175. To meet her, get approved to adopt at PawsitiveTailsKC.org.

But those eyes!

Luna is definitely a beauty with her blue and hazel eyes but she is so much more than a pretty face! While we anxiously await her embark test results we know she 100% lovely. She is estimated 9 mos old and is 39 lbs. she is up to date on all vaccines and she is spayed and microchipped now.

Luna loves, loves, loves other dog friends and plays so nice and is friendly with all the dogs at the dog park. She loves to run in the yard but also loves relaxing too. She is an expert at fetch and chase is her favorite game. She is very intelligent and knows sit, stay, down, shake, and heel. She learns quick especially when treats are involved. Luna loves to show off her treat puzzle skills too. She loves walks and does great on a leash. This girl rarely barks, only when she should. She can be quite silly girl and is always the life of the party.

She is crate trained and happily sleeps at night in there as well as for naps. She is house trained and enjoys spending time outdoors.

She does get a little excited around her foster’s cats who have never been around a dog. She is still trying to learn that chase is not their favorite game. She is making progress and baby gates work well during the process.

She is such a trusting, loving and sweet girl and is just a wonderful pup. Apply for Luna Blue at www.PawsitiveTailskc.org!

Luna's adoption fee is $175 and includes her spay, microchip, vaccinations, and flea/tick & heartworm preventatives. Meet and Greets can be scheduled with Approved Adopters so get your application in today!

This tiny girl should be worrying about toys, naps, and puppy breath kisses — not fighting for her life in the hospital tonight.

Our day off didn't start as we'd like. An anxious message from a worried foster. A puppy who wasn't eating or drinking and was suddenly lethargic. We told her to trust her judgement and get the baby to the ER vet if she thought that was needed. Wishing Star is currently hospitalized with severe dehydration and a dangerously high fever, and despite extensive testing, the vets don’t yet know why. She's had bloodwork, parvo test is negative, as well as negative x-rays. She is being closely monitored, receiving IV fluids, medications, and round-the-clock care as they work to figure out what her little body is battling.

This is one of those moments that makes rescue feel incredibly heavy. The kind where you stare at the phone, willing it to ring with better news. The kind where you say, please just let her be okay. Please pray for answers and for complete healing for our little Wishing Star.

Her care is already costly, with an estimate for 24 hours of care between $2500 and $4200. Of course, the longer she remains hospitalized, the higher those bills will climb. But walking away is not an option — she deserves every chance, and we will not stop fighting for her.

🙏 If you are able to donate, even a small amount, it would mean everything to Wishing Star and to us.
💛 If you can’t donate, please share — visibility saves lives.

Every dollar helps keep her warm, hydrated, monitored, and fighting. Every prayer, share, and kind thought matters more than you know.

✨ Please help us keep Wishing Star shining. ✨ Thank you for not giving up on her!

Hi there, friends, I’m Woobie! What’s a Woobie? It’s me, of course. A woobie is also a name for something people might call a security blanket. I guess it makes people feel comfortable and safe. I sure hope that’s what I do, too.

I know what it’s like not to feel settled, because I was running the streets for a long time. This whole idea you call “home” is much nicer than that was. I am really well behaved in the house, so you’ll be glad to have me home too.

I like all the people, even those small ones you call kids, and everyone always tells me that I’m a good boy. I sure like to hear that. Even better, I like it if you pet me. If you don’t think of that idea, I’ll be happy to remind you that I’m there for petting.

I like other dogs, and we can play together and even snuggle together. But I don’t need to live with another dog; I’d be just as happy by myself – and with you, of course.

My favorite place is the end of the couch. It’s so comfortable and soft, and you can just rest your bones there so nicely…zzzzzzz. Oops, I think I dozed off there! I like to be in that spot, and my foster mom calls me Sheldon. I don’t get it, that’s just my spot. And my name is Woobie, not Sheldon, silly foster mom.

Do you have a nice spot on your couch, too, where you could put a Woobie? Then you should bring me home.

Woobie is approximately 4 years old and weighs just under 70 pounds. He could be a Doberman mix or a Coonhound mix, or some of both? We’re not sure. But he is a great guy, that we are 100% sure of!

Woobie is house-trained, crate-trained, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He’ll come to you current on flea/tick/heartworm preventatives. His adoption fee is $175. Apply to adopt him at PawsitiveTailsKC.org.

Meet Bear – Your Perfectly Squishy Forever Friend 🐾

Say hello to Bear, a lovable English Bulldog with a heart as big as his adorable wrinkles. This handsome boy is currently thriving in foster care and will be ready to find his forever home soon.

Bear is the definition of a laid-back companion. He enjoys cozy naps, and being close to his people. True to his bulldog roots, he’s equal parts goofy and gentle, always finding a way to make you smile—whether it’s with his snorts, his wiggly tail, or his impressive couch-snuggling skills.

In his foster home, Bear has shown himself to be affectionate, easygoing, and well-mannered. He is house-trained, crate-trained and enjoys a calm routine. Bear would thrive in a home that understands the needs of an English Bulldog and is ready to give him the love, patience, and care he deserves.

Bear does well with other dogs and cats. He would be happiest with someone who appreciates a loyal companion who prefers quality time over chaos.

This sweet boy has already proven how resilient and loving he can be—now all he needs is a family to call his own. If you’re looking for a devoted best friend with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Bear might just be your perfect match. 💙

Bear's adoption fee is $225 and includes his neuter, microchip, vaccinations, and flea/tick & heartworm preventatives. Meet and Greets can be scheduled with Approved Adopters so get your application in today!

You don’t need lights to decorate your house — Ellen Griswold will bring her own sparkle, sass, and holiday-worthy joy without raising your electric bill ✨

Ellen is a sweet, silly 2-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix, currently around 65 pounds (and may fill out a bit more — being a mom is exhausting, after all). She absolutely adores people and does great with other dogs, especially ones who enjoy playtime as much as she does.

This girl is high energy and full of life — think joyful freight train when she gets excited. There’s zero aggression here, just enthusiasm and a whole lot of love. Because of that, she’d do best in an active home with a fenced yard or people who enjoy long walks and staying busy. A playful canine sibling would be ideal; she may be a bit much for a senior dog. She loves kids, but due to her size and tendency to jump when excited, we wouldn’t recommend a home with very small children.

Ellen has great house manners, too. She’s housetrained, sleeps through the night in her kennel (which she keeps clean), and knows commands like sit, shake, and outside. She walks nicely on a leash — unless squirrels decide to act suspicious, in which case she feels it’s her duty to supervise.

She also has a flair for fashion and looks adorable rocking a cozy sweater while strutting her stuff. While she can be a little shy around men at first, once she trusts you, she’s all in for cuddles and closeness.

Ellen will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $175.
