Thank you to our local businesses who put together and donated our award coolers for this years Tournament! Every year these coolers are awarded for Best Decorated Boat, Best Costume, Most Original Theme, and Favorite Decorated Boat!!!

It is nearly Tournament time, and we’d like to take a moment to dedicate this weekend to our very own legend angler, Penny Slingerland 🤍

At our tournament last year, we had the privilege of presenting the very first “T**T Legacy” Award to Miss Penny Slingerland - a true trailblazer in the world of offshore fishing.

Tom Furlow & Marilee gave us the honor of recognizing her life, achievements, and the impact she had on our community. They reminded us that Penny won this very tournament in the 1980s when it was only referred to as the ‘ladies tournament’. She was key in establishing women anglers in the sport of fishing, and the reason we continue the Texas Women Anglers Tournament today.

Penny has since joined many of her fishing friends and fellow legends in Heaven. We will deeply miss her contagious smile and infectious laugh at our weigh-in, and we will always be grateful for the example she set and the legacy she leaves behind.
