Nazani and her brother Tiger, right after they arrived here from a high kill shelter in 2015. They were two of the sickest kittens I have ever seen. It took almost a year for Tiger to fully recover. Tiger died of cancer two years ago, and now Nazani has cancer. 💔

Hi everyone. It's been a rough few days. Our sweet Nazani is declining, and I am spending as much time with her as possible. There isn't anything else that can be done for her, the cancer has spread. I haven't really felt like posting here, she is my main focus right now. I will keep you updated. 😞

Hi everyone. Yesterday was a sad day. Our beautiful Autumn passed away. When I fed the Paradise kitties yesterday morning, I noticed that she was breathing really fast while she was eating. We took her right to the vet, and apparently her entire mammary chain had tumors that the vet could feel under her skin. She thinks the cancer had spread to her lungs. There was nothing that could be done.
When I put Autumn in the carrier to go to the vet, I had a sinking feeling that she wouldn't be coming home. I couldn't think of one thing that wasn't serious for a cat to be breathing like that, but I'd hoped I was wrong.
Autumn was around 15 years old. Our friend Sandra Banser Mattull trapped her and Autumn's sister Foxy, who is still here, years ago in a Target parking lot. They were a bit too feral to be adopted, so they came here. Sandy has always been there for them, whatever they needed.
I'm comforted to know that Autumn lived her best life here in our huge Paradise enclosure, right up until the very end. She loved being outside, she was still wild at heart.
We will miss our sweet Autumn girl very much. 💔

Good Morning everyone! We are all enjoying a beautiful, sunny morning after days of very intense storms. Tropical storm Bertha is forming just off the coast near us, and we've been getting the rain bands from that, with some very intense thunder and lightning. The sunshine is nice while we have it! Hi everyone! We've been very busy getting our Siberia enclosure ready for some new arrivals. This is one of our oldest enclosures. It was the home of our beloved Siberian ferals for ten years, until the last one of the group of 15 passed away about 5 months ago. It needed a deep cleaning and some repairs, but it's just about ready. As with all of our enclosures, it has chain link, anti-snake wire, heavy duty protective panels, security cameras, anti-dig barriers, a heated shelter for the winter, and a lightning protection system. We always take every precaution to keep the babies safe! 🙂
