Our program today (Monday, May 1) was our annual Education Foundation Scholarship Recipients Honors Luncheon. This year seven $1,000 scholarships were awarded to outstanding students from our area. The honorees were Tyler Miller, Dougherty Comprehensive High School; Ethan Johnson, Deerfield-Windsor School; Maggie Cox, Lee County High School; Emma Elliott, Deerfield-Windsor School; Tristan Hatfield, Southwest Georgia Home School Association; Bridges Pierce, Deerfield Windsor School; and Emily Davila, Terrell Academy in Dawson. All of these students have outstanding academic records and are exemplary as well in their extracurricular and community activities. They also represent a wide variety of future career goals, including music engineer, sports medicine, financial planning, special education, film production, communication/information services, and pharmacy. Congratulations, all of you, and we have no doubt you will excel in whatever you ultimately choose to do! Thanks, also, to Tommy Gay being the presenter for the occasion!
