今週はハロウィンウィークとメキシコの「死者の日」をお祝いしました🎉
ジャック・オ・ランタンやピニャータを作ったり、心を込めて祭壇を飾ったり、ハロウィンパンケーキ作りも楽しみました🕯🧡

そして待ちに待ったハロウィン当日は、みんなの可愛い＆かっこいい仮装で大盛り上がり！👻🧙‍♀️🦸‍♂️
保護者の皆さまにもご参加いただき、Trick or Treat🍬を楽しむ素敵な一日になりました🎃💫

📚 A Week in the Life: Learning Journeys at Berry
👧「今週のフォーカスチャイルド」〜子どもたちの学びを見える化〜

Each week at Berry, we choose two children to be our “focus children.” Throughout the week, we observe their play, interactions, and discoveries across all areas of learning — from the forest to the classroom.
べりーでは、毎週2人の「フォーカスチャイルド」を選び、森でも教室でも、その子の遊びや関わり、発見の瞬間を丁寧に観察しています。

These moments are collected into a “Learning Journey” — a snapshot of who they are, what they love, and how they are growing.
そしてその一週間の様子をまとめたのが「Learning Journey（学びの旅）」です。その子らしさや好きなこと、成長の軌跡がぎゅっと詰まっています。

At the end of the term, each focus child’s Learning Journey is shared with their family — a meaningful and personal way to celebrate progress.
学期の終わりには、これを保護者の皆さんにお渡ししています。成長を一緒に喜び、子どもの世界をより深く知ってもらうための、心を込めた贈り物です。

Rather than grades or tests, we believe the best way to understand a child’s development is through stories, photos, and real observations.

Learning Journeys help us notice the little moments that matter — the confidence, the questions, the friendships, the joy.

✏️ Literacy with Purpose

When literacy emerges from real, relevant experiences, it enriches children’s lives — helping them document, organise, plan, invent, and express.on.
子どもたちにとって「読み書き」が“勉強”ではなく、“自分の世界で役に立つこと”として感じられると、それは探究と表現のための強力なツールになります。

In this moment, a child is writing down the names of his friends on a clipboard — not because he has to, but because he wants to.
この子は、友だちの名前を自分で選んで書いています。誰かに言われたからではなく、「書くこと」が自分の遊びの中で自然に必要になったから。

🎨 Color Lab at the Water Table
💧 色水実験室、開店中！

Mixing, pumping, observing, adjusting… what began as a simple exploration turned into a full-on experiment.
混ぜて、くみ上げて、観察して、また調整して…シンプルな遊びが、本格的な実験へと発展しました。

By combining red, yellow, and blue liquids in different ways, this little scientist discovered how colors blend, how pumps work, and how to keep trying until it feels just right.
赤・黄・青の色水を組み合わせて、色がどう混ざるのか、ポンプがどう動くのか、そして納得いくまで何度も試す大切さを体験していました。

It’s child-led learning, bubbling with discovery.
これはまさに、発見にあふれた子ども主導の学びです。

🪨 Breaking Rocks, Building Minds
🔍 石を割って、中を見てみよう！

Armed with curiosity and a few heavy stones, the children set out on a mission: to crack open rocks and discover what’s inside.
子どもたちは好奇心いっぱいに、いくつかの重い石を手に取り、あるミッションに挑戦しました。それは「石を割って、中を見てみよう！」という探究です。

They tested different techniques, examined the textures and colors inside, and discussed their discoveries together like little geologists.
割り方を工夫しながら、現れた内側の色や模様を観察し、「これはなんだろう？」と小さな地質学者のように語り合いました。

This wasn’t just play — it was hands-on science, led by wonder and driven by teamwork.
これは単なる遊びではなく、驚きから始まる本格的な科学の時間。そしてそれは、チームワークによって支えられていました。

🌧️ Mud Magic
どろんこマジック！

What looks like a big mess to adults is often a masterpiece in progress to children.
大人の目には“ただの泥んこ”でも、子どもたちにとっては、創造と発見の宝庫です。

With shovels, buckets, pans, and a whole lot of imagination, this muddy pit became a bakery, a construction site, a science experiment, and a stage for laughter — all in one.
スコップやバケツ、お鍋、そしてたっぷりの想像力で、この泥んこのエリアはベーカリー、工事現場、科学実験場、笑いのステージに早変わり！

Messy play like this isn’t just fun — it’s foundational.
こういった「ぐちゃぐちゃ遊び」は、楽しいだけじゃなく、子どもたちの発達にとってとても重要なものです。

🪵 Fixing the Bench – Together!
🔨 ベンチ修理プロジェクト！

We had a special mission in the Berry Forest: fixing the broken bench!
ベリーの森の中で特別なミッションがありました。それは……壊れていたベンチを直すこと！

With hammers and nails in hand, the children carefully worked together using real tools.
金づちと釘を手に、子どもたちは本物の道具を使って慎重に作業を進めました。

They explored how to hold the nails safely and how to line things up just right — all through trial and error and collaboration.
釘をどう押さえれば安全か、どう並べればうまくいくかを、試行錯誤と協力を通じて学びました。

Before any adult stepped in, the children were already asking each other: “What should we do?” — and that’s where the learning truly begins.
大人が手を出す前に、子どもたちはすでに「どうすればいい？」とお互いに聞き合っていました。ここから本当の学びが始まるのです。

🪚✨ 木工×ごっこ遊び＝魔法の学び！✨🛠️
ベリーのワークベンチでは、ドレスを着たプリンセスが木材をノコギリでカット！想像力と本物の技術が一つになった瞬間でした。

木工遊びは、集中力、空間認識、計画性、そして手先の巧緻性など、さまざまなスキルを自然と引き出します。道具の使い方を学びながら、自分のアイデアを形にしていくプロセスはまさに「小さなエンジニア」への第一歩。

時にはおとぎ話の衣装を身にまといながら、本物のノコギリやクランプに触れることで、「私はできる！」という自信も育まれていきます。

🔍なぜこれが大切？
このようなプロジェクト活動は、英国のEYFS（幼児教育の基準）で重視されている「Expressive Arts and Design（表現と創造）」や「Physical Development（身体的発達）」の領域に直結しています。特に実際の道具を安全に使うことで、子どもたちは責任感と自律性を育てることができます。

🪚✨ Woodwork meets pretend play—pure magic! ✨🛠️
At our workbench, a princess in a pink gown was hard at work sawing wood. Imagination met real-life skills in the most beautiful way.

Sometimes they wear a crown. Sometimes goggles. But always, they’re building more than just wooden structures; they’re building confidence and their ideas into something tangible. They begin to see themselves as capable makers, young engineers in the making!

Projects like this are directly linked to key EYFS areas, such as Expressive Arts and Design and Physical Development. When children use real tools in safe, supported environments, they develop not just skills but autonomy, responsibility, and pride in their work.
