The Drill Instructor Monument was erected on September 11, 1999, as a lasting tribute to the Marines who proudly wore the campaign cover and dedicated themselves to making Marines.

This year, our WCDIA Reunion will take place on that very same date, September 11. It gives us a meaningful opportunity to honor those who came before us while standing alongside those who continue the proud legacy of being a Drill Instructor.

In preparation for the reunion, Sergeant Major Bobby Woods, USMC Retired, installed new commemorative bricks at the monument. This is a responsibility he has proudly carried out for more than 15 years. His dedication helps ensure that the names, service, and sacrifices represented here will never be forgotten. 🧱❤️

The campaign cover may come off… but being a Drill Instructor never does.

The West Coast Drill Instructor Association’s 38th Annual Reunion is almost here, and it’s time to come home.

Memorial Day is not about celebration… it is about remembrance. It is about carrying forward the stories, values, and spirit of those who never made it home. Their sacrifice paved the way for the freedoms we live today, and their memory will forever remain etched into the soul of our nation.

As Drill Instructors, Marines, veterans, families, and patriots, we stand proud knowing we carry the torch lit by those who came before us. We honor the fallen not only with words, but through how we live, lead, and serve others each day.
