A Journey of Courage, Confidence and New Possibilities 💜

Atharv’s journey is a reminder that even after losing so much, there is always room to rebuild, rediscover yourself and begin again.

A trans man from a small village in Uttar Pradesh, Atharv has navigated the challenges of self-acceptance, losing relationships, career setbacks and the struggle to find a workplace where he could be accepted for who he is.

In February 2026, he discovered PeriFerry through Instagram and joined our training programme. Here, he strengthened his communication skills, explored digital literacy and AI tools, and prepared himself for new professional opportunities.

But one moment stood out. For the first time, Atharv spoke into a microphone and shared his own poems in front of an audience. His hands were shaking, but he finished his speech. What began as a moment of fear became a moment of confidence.

Today, Atharv is looking ahead with renewed purpose — to keep learning, build his own identity, make his parents proud and write his own story.

His journey reminds us that progress isn’t always about how much we gain. Sometimes, it’s about finding parts of ourselves we thought we had lost.

Here’s to Atharv, his courage, and all the possibilities still ahead. ✨

Behind every REVIVE trainee walking into an interview is a trainer bringing expertise, preparation and a deep understanding of how people learn and grow.

In this edition of A Day in a Trainer’s Life, we feature Ms. Meenal Gurjar (Certified Facilitative Trainer, NLP Master Practitioner, Gestalt Associate, Certified Trainer & Coach), offering a glimpse into the work that goes into preparing our trainees for the world of work.

From planning sessions and understanding individual needs to building confidence, strengthening skills and preparing trainees for workplace realities, her work goes far beyond the training room.

Because training isn’t just about completing a programme. It’s about equipping people with the skills, confidence and readiness to take their next step.

“How much is a day of someone’s work worth? And how often do we stop to think about the time, skill and experimentation behind something handmade?

This Tiger Weave Koodai is a statement piece, and every knot has a story.

The weave didn’t come together overnight. Each knot had to be deciphered, tried and tested until the pattern began to take the shape of a tiger. The tiger weaving alone took 5 days, followed by another 5 days to make the bag around 10 days of patient, hands-on work to bring this piece to life.

And it isn’t just beautiful to look at. You can use it as a laptop bag with a protective sleeve, carry it crossbody, or explore a different bag style with the same distinctive weave and impression. A one-of-a-kind piece, made to be used as much as it is admired.

Each Koodai is made by transgender artisans through Crafted Wings, a not-for-profit initiative of PeriFerry Foundation, currently supporting 11 artisans towards sustainable livelihoods. We ensure fair pay for their work and, recognising that many may not have family support, provide accommodation, food and other living provisions.

Why do LGBTQ+ people love Subaru?

Subaru’s relationship with the LGBTQ+ community offers an interesting lesson for businesses: inclusion can start with simply paying attention.

In the 1990s, Subaru recognised that le***an consumers were already an important part of its customer base. The brand chose to understand that audience, speak to them in ways that felt authentic, and build that connection beyond a single campaign.
And that’s where the bigger lesson lies.

Inclusive marketing isn’t just about putting a rainbow on a campaign. It’s about understanding who your customers are, listening to what matters to them, and allowing that understanding to shape the way you hire, support, design, market and build.

Because the question for businesses isn’t just “How can we look inclusive?”

It’s “How can we understand our communities better?”

This Le***an Day, we’re looking beyond the rainbow and at what inclusive business can actually look like.

Looking back at the closing ceremony that marked the culmination of another REVIVE journey in Pune. Joined by our partners from Tata AutoComp and training partner Infosys, we celebrated a dedicated cohort of 15 transgender trainees as they completed their residential training and upskilling program.

From their first day of training to this moment of graduation, the cohort has grown through learning, skill-building and new experiences and are now stepping forward towards the next chapter of their careers.

A heartfelt thank you to Tata AutoComp and Infosys for being part of this journey and supporting our trainees along the way. Here’s to new beginnings and everything that lies ahead. 💜

Born in September 2004 and raised in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu—the city of temples and coffee—Zarona’s journey has been one of curiosity, courage, resilience, and self-discovery.

Her journey began in higher secondary school, when an attraction to a male teacher made her question her sexuality and identity. Curious about herself, she began exploring, but feeling overwhelmed and unable to find answers, eventually stepped away.

A few years later, she found herself drawn to expressing herself through women’s clothing. When her mother discovered this, it led to conflict, a visit to a doctor, and even rituals performed by a godman because her family believed she was possessed by a female spirit. While difficult, the experience became a turning point. Zarona began to understand her body dysphoria, started her transition, and began looking for work to support herself and her family.

Her first workplace gave her a sense of acceptance. Her colleagues welcomed and supported her, but she was eventually asked to leave because she was transgender and on HRT.

She then worked in hotel management for five months before undergoing surgery. After recovering, she joined a healthcare BPO, but had to leave following a post-surgical infection. After six months of unemployment, she discovered PeriFerry and its training programme.

Through every difficult chapter, Zarona found inspiration in the unicorn—a symbol she connects with for its uniqueness and ability to exist beyond the ordinary. Whenever life felt impossible, it reminded her to remain confident, curious, and willing to explore.

Today, Zarona loves observing the world around her and turning those observations into creative social media content, something she hopes to pursue further.
Her time at the healthcare BPO also showed her the power of acceptance. Despite facing discrimination, her colleagues stood by her and became a source of strength.

Zarona’s journey is a reminder that sometimes, the people who stand beside us can give us the strength to keep becoming who we are meant to be. 🦄✨

PeriFerry उन NGOs/CBOs को एक साथ ला रहा है जो ट्रांसजेंडर समुदाय के लिए आजीविका के अवसरों पर काम शुरू कर रहे हैं, अपने मौजूदा काम को आगे बढ़ा रहे हैं या इस क्षेत्र में नए प्रयास करना चाहते हैं।
पुणे में दो दिनों के दौरान, हम ज़मीनी स्तर पर अपने अनुभव और सीख साझा करेंगे — आजीविका कार्यक्रमों की योजना बनाने और उम्मीदवारों से जुड़ने से लेकर प्रशिक्षण, रोज़गार, आर्टिजन पहलों और टिकाऊ आजीविका के रास्ते बनाने तक। इन प्रयासों के ज़रिए 850+ ट्रांसजेंडर लोगों के लिए रोज़गार के अवसर और 1200+ लोगों के लिए आवासीय प्रशिक्षण के अवसर तैयार किए गए हैं।
यह सीखने, सवाल पूछने, नए विचारों पर बात करने और ऐसे संगठनों से जुड़ने का मौका है जो इसी दिशा में काम कर रहे हैं।

A day at Amazon, and a whole lot of learning. ✨
Our REVIVE batch got the chance to step into the Amazon workplace, participate in mock interviews and interact with leaders who shared their experiences, insights and advice.

From asking questions to navigating mock interviews, the visit gave our participants a chance to learn, experience and build confidence beyond the classroom.

Koodai bags have always been about utility. They were made to be strong, sturdy and used every day, and that’s what we love about them.

This is our Biscuit Knot Koodai, a more intricate weave than our usual Koodai. It takes around 3 days to make, with every knot done by hand. The rainbow colours give it a fun look, while the sturdy weave makes it perfect for the beach, picnics, lunch or everyday use. The handle can also be customised.
