In Memoriam: Gov. Dakila “Dax” Cua 🕊️

With heavy hearts, the Rotary Club of Aseana Manila mourns the passing of our dear fellow Rotarian and former Transformational President, Gov. Dakila “Dax” Cua.

Gov. Dax led our Rotary Club during one of the most challenging periods in our history, the COVID-19 pandemic. At a time when communities needed leadership, compassion, and action, he stepped forward and served with purpose.

But Gov. Dax did not simply serve the people. He made sure that his service was transformational. He believed that service should create meaningful change, reach those who needed it most, and leave a lasting impact on the communities we serve.

His commitment to service extended far beyond the province of Quirino, where he served. During calamities, he made sure that families received support and assistance when they needed it most.

And even as the years passed, he never forgot his Rotary family. He continued to check in with our Club and our members, always asking how he could contribute and making sure that, in whatever way he could, he could be part of the service projects we were doing. His connection to our Club was never simply about being a member. He remained committed to being of service.

His leadership during the pandemic, his compassion during times of crisis, and his willingness to continue contributing to the work of Rotary will remain part of the legacy he leaves behind.

Gov. Dax showed us that Service Above Self is not simply about serving others. It is about creating change that continues long after the service is done.

Thank you, Gov. Dax, for your leadership, your friendship, and your transformational service.

You will be deeply missed, but your legacy of service will continue to live on in the lives you touched and the communities you helped transform.

Rest in peace, Gov. Dax. 🕊️

Our club was honored to be part of the launch of "Teacher Empowerment for Pedagogical Innovation via Multimedia Facilities in Secondary Education", a Rotary Foundation Global Grant Project hosted by the Rotary Club of Temerloh, District 3300, Malaysia.

A special thank you to member Angelo Vargas, who graciously stood in on the President and the Club’s behalf. Thank you, Angelo, for being there and carrying our presence to this meaningful occasion. 💙

This $80,300 initiative will equip SMJK Hwa Lian Mentakab and SM Chong Hwa Kuantan with 40 units of Smart Boards, empowering educators to shift toward blended, student-centered, and multimedia-enhanced learning.

To be part of a project that spans clubs and districts across Malaysia, Taiwan, and the Philippines is a reminder of what can be achieved when we work as one Rotary family.

Together, we empower educators. Together, we change lives. ✨

The Rotary Club of Aseana Manila, proudly serving the Aseana District in Parañaque, paid a courtesy visit to Mayor Edwin Olivarez to discuss a strategic collaboration for the implementation of our award winning EcoSaver Sustainability Program in the City of Parañaque.

The delegation was led by ICP Allyson Santos, together with IPP Sam Mesina, PP Miya Tam, DAD Joselito Pamilar, and ICP Garry Beltran of the Rotary Club of Aseana Bayanihan.

The meeting centered on bringing innovative environmental and climate action initiatives to Parañaque, including the implementation of the EcoSaver Sustainability Program, climate change awareness campaigns, waste segregation and recycling initiatives, tree growing activities, community clean up drives, and other sustainability projects that support the city's vision for a greener and more resilient future.

As an award winning environmental initiative of the Rotary Club of Aseana Manila, the EcoSaver Sustainability Program continues to inspire communities through practical and impactful environmental action.

We are excited to partner with the City Government of Parañaque in creating lasting environmental change for future generations.

RC ASEANA MANILA SPONSORS ITS FIRST DAUGHTER CLUB.

August 2026, After the chartering process was not completed during the previous Rotary year, the Rotary Club of Aseana Bayanihan is now moving forward toward its official charter, marking a historic milestone as the Rotary Club of Aseana Manila sponsors its first daughter club.

The chartering is being undertaken under the leadership of District Governor Maria Rosa "Bing" Nieva Carrion, with the support of Mother Club President Allyson Santos. Charter President Gary Beltran leads the club's charter members as they prepare to officially join the Rotary family.

This milestone reflects the perseverance and commitment of everyone involved to strengthen Rotary through membership growth, leadership development, and meaningful service.

Congratulations to all who made this long awaited achievement possible, and best wishes to the Rotary Club of Aseana Bayanihan on its journey of Service Above Self.

As I officially conclude my term as President of the Rotary Club of Aseana Manila, my heart is filled with gratitude.

Serving this club has been one of the greatest honors of my life. This journey has given me unforgettable memories, meaningful experiences, and lessons that have shaped me not only as a leader but also as a person.

To my Rotary family, thank you for your trust, unwavering support, friendship, and commitment throughout this incredible year. Every project we accomplished, every challenge we overcame, and every life we touched was possible because of your dedication to serving others. This has never been my journey alone it has always been ours.

One of the greatest blessings of this presidency has been the people I met along the way. I gained friendships I will treasure for a lifetime. Some came into my life to walk beside me, while others came to teach me valuable lessons. Every encounter has become part of my story, and for that, I am sincerely grateful.

Today, I proudly pass the presidency to my daughter, Allyson Santos my future lawyer and one of my greatest blessings. We share the same values and determination, but Allyson is stronger, stricter, and more composed than I am. Though naturally reserved, her strength, discipline, and integrity speak louder than words. I have no doubt she will lead our club with dedication and a genuine heart for service.

To every member of the Rotary Club of Aseana Manila thank you for allowing me to serve alongside each of you. I will always cherish the memories we created, the friendships we built, and the impact we made together. I may be stepping down as President, but I will always remain a proud Rotarian, ready to continue serving whenever I am needed.

Truly humbled to receive this Plaque of Appreciation from Rotary and the Asian Cultural Festival 2026 as one of the Cultural and Heritage Icons.

The Asian Cultural Festival 2026, one of the official events held in conjunction with the Rotary International Convention (ROTACON 2026) in Taipei, Taiwan, made this recognition even more meaningful. It was a privilege to stand alongside fellow Rotarians from 25 countries, celebrating our shared commitment to culture, friendship, and service.

I am especially honored that this plaque is signed by PRIP and Incoming TRF Chairman Gordon R. McInally.

My sincere thanks to the organizers, fellow Rotarians, and everyone who made this unforgettable event possible. May we continue to live by Rotary's motto, Service Above Self.

The Rotary Club of Aseana Manila proudly congratulates our esteemed President, Sheryll Ann Mesina, who also serves as Chairman of the EcoSaver Sustainability Program, for this remarkable achievement.

Under her visionary leadership, the EcoSaver Sustainability Program was awarded 1st Runner-Up in the Most Outstanding Environmental Project Award 2025–2026 for Zone 10A and was selected among the Top 10 Finalists in a nationwide competition participated in by Rotarians across the Philippines.

This outstanding recognition reflects years of dedication, hard work, innovation, and a nationwide environmental campaign that promotes sustainability, environmental awareness, and community action throughout the country.

The EcoSaver Sustainability Program has likewise gained recognition on a larger stage, including during a program held in conjunction with the Rotary International Convention in Taipei. It has also received prestigious honors such as the Environmental Impact Leadership Award, the Climate Heroes Award from the Climate Change Commission, recognition from the United Nations Association of the Philippines, and recognition from the Philippine Inventors Society for its significant contribution to environmental sustainability.

We, at the Rotary Club of Aseana Manila, are truly proud of our President and her unwavering commitment to service, environmental stewardship, and nation building. Her achievements continue to inspire Rotarians and communities across the Philippines.
