At our Educational Usrah on Sunday 23 November 2025, we explored the powerful environmental ethics embedded in Islam — from Tawhid and stewardship to accountability and daily sustainable habits inspired by the Sunnah.

The session reminded us that caring for the Earth isn’t just a lifestyle choice — it’s part of our worship, our Amana, and our role as Khalifah.

Every small action matters. Every mindful choice counts. And every sign in creation leads us back to Allah.
Swipe through to see the key principles and how we can live them today. 🌱✨

Let’s honour our responsibility and protect Allah’s creation together.

✨ Educational Usrah – Sunday 15 June 2025: Talk Summary

In this usrah, we reflected on the themes of hope, patience, and faith as tools to navigate life’s challenges. We discussed how hope (rajaʾ) in Allah helps us stay positive even in difficult times, and how patience (sabr) is more than endurance — it’s strength and trust in Allah’s wisdom.

We explored how faith connects hope and patience, reminding us that delays or hardships can be divine protection, and that Allah is always working for our good even when we don’t see it.

The talk emphasised practical steps like building a consistent routine of Salah, Dhikr, Quran, and Dua to strengthen our connection with Allah. We also talked about the difference between true hope—trust paired with action—and false hope, which expects change without effort.

We closed by reminding each other that hardship is part of life, but with patience, hope, and faith, we can walk through it with dignity and peace, knowing Allah is near.

In the lead-up to Eid al-Adha, 7-year-old A gave a confident and clear child talk on the rituals of Hajj and the meaning behind Eid 🕋 Speaking to both kids and adults at our Educational Usrah on 1 June, he held the space with ease ✨

Our child talks give kids the chance to share their surah recitations, weekly highlights, school stories, and reflections on faith — building confidence and connection from a young age 🫶

Our last educational Usrah had us split into 4 groups, where each member shared their memorisation of the powerful dua from Surah Al-A’raf (7:126):

“Our Rabb, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims.”

We then reflected in our groups on what it means to ask for sabr instead of escape, to face daily struggles with faith, and to live in a way that prepares us for a righteous end.

From global oppression to personal hardship — this du’a remains timeless, relevant, and deeply moving.
May we live by it, and leave with it on our tongues. 🕊️

🕋 Tafseer Recap – Surah Al-Mulk (67:8–15)

Last week’s session on 1 June 2025 reflected on the punishment for those who denied the truth, and the reward for those in awe of Allah.

A powerful takeaway: 🫀 Allah knows what’s in our hearts — now and always. We were reminded that the heart is our core, and its purity is key to our connection with Allah.

💬 Comments from the audience included “very nice breakdown,” “Arabic well prepared,” and appreciation for the use of Urdu “sadar” to explain Arabic “sudoor” — a beautiful way to learn and reflect.

We ended with verse 15 — a call to reflect on the world around us and our deep reliance on Allah.

📖 Upcoming Usrah – Sunday 1 June 2025
This week’s Usrah focuses on a powerful du’a made by Prophet Musa (AS).

Du’a for sabr (patience), perseverance, and a prayer requesting Allah to let us die righteously. This was recited after Firawn resorted to persecution and threatened Musa (as) after he threw his staff and established the truth among all those who disbelieved.
Reference: Qur’ran (Al-A’raf 7:126)

May we not only memorise it, but also live by its meaning and turn to it in times of trial.

🧠 Understanding Mental Health: An Islamic Perspective
By Zohair Ahmad

Let’s explore what mental health truly means — beyond the absence of illness.
From societal pressures to spiritual disconnection, our struggles are real. But so are the tools our faith gives us to cope, heal, and thrive.

Through salah, dhikr, tawakkul, and practical self-care, we can move toward tranquility (sakinah) and connection — with ourselves, our community, and Allah.

May this be a reminder: Seeking help is strength. Taking care of your mental health is part of your faith.

In our latest Tafsir session, we explored the opening verses of Surah Al-Mulk (67:1–7) — also known as Surah Tabarak and Al-Munjiyah.

Through a reflective tafsir led by Tuba Mahmood, we uncovered how this surah protects the believer, intercedes in the grave, and is a nightly spiritual companion.

Let’s make it part of our nightly routine, insha’Allah.

“My Rabb! Truly, I am in need of whatever good that You bestow on me!” (Surah Al-Qasas 28:24)

In our recent Usrah session, we reflected on this deeply moving dua made by Prophet Musa (a) during a moment of complete vulnerability.

Before this, Musa (a) had fled Egypt after accidentally killing a man while trying to stop a fight. Branded a criminal and fearing for his life, he escaped to the land of Madyan — alone, without food, shelter, or any plan for the future.

There, at a well, he saw two women struggling to water their sheep. Despite his own exhaustion and hunger, he stepped in to help them. Then, quietly, he turned away, sat under a tree, and made this simple, sincere dua.

Reflections from the session:
🌿Trust in hardship: Musa (AS) had no certainty about the future, yet he turned to Allah with calm reliance.
🌿Selflessness in struggle: Even in desperate need, he helped others — and that act opened the door for Allah’s help.
🌿Dignity in dua: His words were not of desperation, but quiet submission, showing how to turn to Allah with grace and trust.

His story reminds us: Even in our lowest moments, Allah is near, and every hardship carries within it the seeds of mercy.
