The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861-1865, is a national not-for-profit organization formed in 1885 by and for female lineal descendants of veterans of Union Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and members of the Revenue Cutter Service who served in the Civil War, in order to honor the loyalty and unselfish sacrifices of their forefathers to preserve the Union. Objectives of this society include:

1) Building and maintaining a Library and Museum of Civil War History; encouraging the preservation of monuments, historic sites, relics, and the records of the individual service of Union Soldiers, Sailors and Marines and members of the Revenue Cutter Service.

2) Disseminating information and teaching about American history of the Civil War period through the establishment of scholarship programs, presentation of American flags and sponsorship of contests of educational merit.

3) Commemorating the deeds of the Union Veterans of the Civil War on May 30 and/or Memorial Day and observing all Patriotic Anniversaries as may be appropriate.

4) Caring for veterans of all wars and their descendants through volunteer programs in Veterans' Administration medical centers and in homes and other institutions maintained by the States. Pennsylvania Tent #62 Katherine Wilson Curtin was officially formed on May 31, 2014 in Boalsburg, PA. Katherine Wilson Curtin was the wife of Pennsylvania Governor Andrew Gregg Curtin, whose term in office during the Civil War lead him to a friendship with President Lincoln.
