The Standish Club was established in the deserts of Kuwait in 2010 by two cigar aficionados. The Club has become a world wide organization for Veterans, both deployed and at home, as a place where they can come together and share in the camaraderie and esprit de corps we all miss from days gone by. Smoking ci**rs is not a requirement, but it was the basis for the original gatherings of soldiers to come together and counsel each other on personal and professional matters, and to relax and decompress from the stress of daily duties and life. Membership is free and automatic once you deploy. Membership is open to any member of the US Armed Forces who is currently serving or has been Honorably discharged, as well as members of any allied nation military. Meetings are anywhere that 2 or people meet, whether smoking is going on or not. Membership is driven by other members spreading the word of the Club. The Club and it's meetings also serve as a place where soldiers can seek help from fellow Veterans by having peers that can relate to issues they may be having. It is easier to come to a "social meeting" than it is to go and "get help".
