At the heart of this event is a powerful goal: helping students who are ready to go through FADED Academy get the funding they need to begin. These are students who have already taken the first step toward a new path, a skilled trade, and a future filled with opportunity.

Today’s Fade-a-Thon ribbon cutting was more than a ceremony. It was a moment to bring people together around a mission that is already changing lives.
We were honored to hear words from Pastor Gregg, a proclamation read by Nathan Francis on behalf of Congressman Eugene Vindman’s office, and remarks from Antoine Carey, founder of the FADED Foundation and FADED Academy.

The awareness this event has brought to the FADED Foundation’s mission is just the beginning. Every conversation, every donation, every haircut, and every person who showed up helps move this work forward.

We are one month out from the first ever Fade-A-Thon 💈

Antoine Carey and Pastor Greg are giving a preview of the first-ever Funded Futures Fade-A-Thon—a 24-hour barbering fundraiser taking place at the Central Rappahannock Regional Library in downtown Fredericksburg.

From 10 a.m. June 1 to 10 a.m. June 2, barbers will be cutting hair around the clock with one purpose: creating real opportunities through the barbering trade.

Our mission is to empower individuals affected by incarceration by providing skills and opportunities in the barbering profession, fostering economic independence and reducing recidivism.

Every cut supports scholarships, education, and mentorship for those working toward a second chance.

💈 Meet Faded Academy Student: Kora Lester

“I’m a dedicated barber who knew early on exactly what I wanted to do. I graduated high school at 14 and went straight into barber school to start building my craft. This isn’t just something I do—it’s what I’m fully committed to.

To me, a haircut goes way deeper than just a clean fade. It’s about the experience from start to finish—the atmosphere, the conversation, and the trust built over time. A barbershop should be a place where you can sit down, clear your mind, and talk about anything—your goals, your progress, or things you don’t usually say out loud.
Every time you sit in my chair, it’s about more than just looking sharp. It’s about taking pride in yourself, resetting your mindset, and walking out with a different level of confidence.”

At just 15 years old, he’s already a high school graduate and on track to earn his barber license before his driver’s license. He’ll be stepping into 16 doing what he loves—cutting hair at the Fade-a-thon.

WEBSITE UPDATE

We’re excited to share that the newly redesigned Faded Foundation website is officially live, with most of the site now completed. While a few finishing touches are still in progress, the foundation (pun intended) is set.
