JUNE 2025: I WAS YOUNG AND NOW I'M OLD

Dear Friends of Mexico Ministries:

“I was young and now I am old,” King David wrote, “and I have never seen the righteous forsaken, or his children begging for bread.” (Psalm 37.25) I too am an old man and have been blessed over the years to have seen the hand of the Lord providing for his own.

I have so very many things to be thankful for and to rejoice over, but it brings me joy when I receive news from either side of the border about God providing for and blessing his children. A few days ago I received a call from a friend who shared the goodness of God in his family. He and his wife were blessed, and now all his children were with good health, good careers, and financial security. Another friend called and told me of God’s favor in the life of his family and how one son’s business which had struggled in the past was now soaring in success. These friends shared good news about the blessings of a good God.

And yet — I also share in the struggles of God’s people. In Mexico I witness the hurt, sadness, and sorrow of so many and I will spend the rest of my life being an instrument of blessing to these dear people. Back home I have visits from people in need of prayer because of setbacks in their health or struggles in their lives. In the book of Acts Peter preached about “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” (10.38) This is a simple but true statement: the devil seeks to kill, steal, and destroy, but Jesus has come that we might have life more abundantly. (John 10.10) I am honored that God allows me to play a small part in turning lives around, helping them move from the oppression of the devil to the abundant life in Christ.

And I also am grateful that God has raised up such marvelous and faithful friends of this ministry to support me and join in this labor of making lives better, all the while keeping our eyes on that blessed hope of Christ making all things new when we will rest from our labors and spend eternity with Jesus and those we love who have gone before us.

God bless you,
Larry

Dear Friends of Mexico Ministries: I am often asked for prayer. My wife Mary Lou says, “Ask God for such and such for me. He always gives you what you ask for.” Others ask for prayer thinking I have a special connection with God, an open line to heaven. I don’t! I have always said that I am no...

Dear friends of Mexico Ministries: I am on my way home from Mexico. A long time ago the Lord said to me, “Go,” and I am still going. He said, “Do,” and I am still doing - doing my best to obey what He asks of me. I believe obedience is a gift from God because I can’t do it in my own power....
