John Johnston presented the Book of Golden Deeds award to Bob and Sally O’Hare, recognizing them for outstanding community service.

Sally has long been involved with the Waverly Area Veterans Post Auxiliary and travels to Marshalltown each month to volunteer in the craft room and assist with bingo at the Iowa Veterans Home. She is also an accomplished knitter and last year made 88 pairs of mittens for the University of Iowa Hospitals.

Bob, a Marine and Vietnam veteran, has served as commander of the AMVETS and coordinates the placement of 1,400 flags across seven cemeteries in Bremer County. Together, Bob and Sally regularly work behind the scenes supporting many activities at the Waverly Veterans Post. We thank them for their dedicated service to our community and our veterans.

We thank Kip Ladage for joining us at Exchange today. Kip shared a PowerPoint with us on Wildlife Rescues and Interactions. He highlighted various scenarios with animals in distress and how he and his rescue team intercept these interactions to save the animals, from owls to various water fowl. He talked about various disease issues and attempts to help curb these situations. We thank Kip for sharing with us today his amazing interactions and photography, as well as his work helping wildlife.
