Arcadia High School Welcomes Lacrosse as a Club Sport for the Titans in Spring 2014
Have you heard??? Lacrosse, the fastest growing sport in the country, now has a club team at Arcadia High School. The AHS Titan Lacrosse team will play other high school lacrosse teams in the valley. Informal practice clinics, led by head coach Steven Weiss, have already begun at Arcadia with over 30 athletes participating. Clinics and informal practices will be ongoing through the holidays, with formal practices beginning in January. Games begin in early February, 2014 and end in late April. As a “club sport,” public schools do not provide funds, equipment or practice facilities; those costs are passed on to the players. It is a “pay to play” sport. In order to make lacrosse accessible to all boys interested in playing, a couple of dedicated parents formed a nonprofit organization, Arcadia Lacrosse, Inc., to allow for tax deductible monetary and equipment donations to help offset the costs of the coach’s salaries, field rental, equipment purchases and to provide scholarships to those athletes who would not otherwise afford the cost to play. The goal of Arcadia Lacrosse, Inc., is to provide excellent training and to develop individual lacrosse players to their fullest potential. For more information or if you are interested in participating, email: [email protected] or post to Arcadia Titan’s FB Page.
