❤️ What can YOU bring to our community? ✨

Sanctuary Boston's 4th Annual Community Auction is coming, and we need YOUR creativity, talents, and community magic!

This isn't your typical auction. It's an anti-capitalist celebration of community care, connection, and sharing what makes each of us special.

💡 Need some inspiration?

🎨 Create something beautiful — art, crafts, or handmade gifts.

🍲 Bring people together — host a dinner, game night, or gathering.

🌿 Share an experience — lead a nature walk, creative workshop, or virtual event.

🎶 Share your talents — offer a music lesson, skill share, or something uniquely YOU!

You don't need to spend money to make a meaningful contribution. Your time, creativity, and willingness to connect are gifts worth celebrating.

💌 Submit your offering by Wednesday, October 21!

✨ “Oh, we got this!” ✨

What happens when a longtime staff member steps away—and the community steps forward?

Sabbatical isn’t just a gift to the staff members who receive time for rest, renewal, learning, spiritual practice, and growth. It can also be a profound gift to the entire community.

It creates space for volunteers and leaders to try something new, discover their own capacity, share responsibility, and find new ways to co-create the community we love.

In the testimonial shared in these graphics, a Sanctuary Boston community member reflects on witnessing that transformation in other congregations: the shift from worrying, “Can we really do this without our staff person?” to the powerful realization:

“Oh, we got this!”

That shift—from anxiety and fear of abandonment toward trust, partnership, and shared ownership—can be transformative.

As Sanctuary’s leadership and staff begin exploring sabbatical possibilities for the future, we invite all of us to consider:

💜 What invitation is calling you?
💜 What part are you ready to play?
💜 What might become possible if you said yes?

And you don’t have to wait for an official sabbatical to begin.

As the Sanctuary song says: “If you’re here, it’s yours.”

What’s yours to help create?

Register NOW: De-escalation Training!
In an increasingly polarized world, how do we respond to anger, threats, disruption, or distress with grace, compassion, and practical skills?
Join us for an afternoon of hands-on learning grounded in our Unitarian Universalist values. We’ll explore how to:
• De-escalate tense or potentially volatile situations
• Respond when worship or community spaces are disrupted
• Stay safer while participating in social justice actions
• Better understand our own bodies and nervous systems during tense encounters
• Support people experiencing agitation or distress
Our goal is to build communities where safety and compassion go hand in hand, while reducing the likelihood of violence and decentering police intervention.
