Hi, I’m Matt Bibeau. Part of the content of the permaculture design course (PDC) is an exploration of the ways we can lessen our impact and how to apply technology in an appropriate way. In our upcoming PDC I’ll be teaching at Jeans Farm, one of the examples will be the tiny house we built on-site that has the ability to be fully independent of city electricity and water. Enjoy this documentary made about our tiny home, and consider enrolling in the course! It runs one weekend/month beginning in April. https://www.pdxpermaculture.org/pdc/weekend

We're doing it for farmers.

We're doing it for biodynamic, organic, and regenerative agriculture.

We're doing it for community food access.

We're doing it for the health and future of the planet.

We're working to decommodify land so that it can no longer be bought and sold for profit, extraction, or development, and so that it can no longer be available only to those with the most money.

We're decommodifying land and helping others to do the same through the Farmland Commons so that land will be protected and held in perpetuity to grow food, fiber, and medicine for local communities for the rest of time.

We're doing this because we are losing farmland from agriculture at a rate of 2,000 acres in this country. We're doing it because land access is the number one barrier to entering farming for young farmers. We're doing it because the future of food and the future of people and the future of our planet depend on it.

We're doing it because if we leave it all up to the made-up constructs of private property and the free market like we have been, we will continue to see the loss of farmland to development, the inability to access land by farmers, and the extinction of our species and planet.

We're doing it because this is the way we see hope when we look forward towards the future.
